A while back Mr. ELA & I were thinking about our future goals together. Only blessed with one child, by the grace of God, miss Sassy will be 18 in 6 years. Hard to believe the last half of her life is now embedded in photographs, and one of the recurring thoughts that kept coming to us was, "What are we going to do when she leaves?"
In 6 years, I'll only be 42.
To me, that's still awfully young with a lot of life left to live. We want to do a lot of traveling during retirement and will need a substantial amount of funds to accomplish this. We knew we wouldn't be able to do it on the hubs income alone, so the only thing to do was for me to start earning money to contribute to our current nest egg.
I decided to return to college & finish my degree. Initially, I was enrolled as a teaching major. I love English, History, Modern Languages, flexibility, being creative, etc. & thought it would be a good choice for me. Besides, Math & I mix like oil and water. Exhibit A.
However, after careful thought & prayer, my husband and I felt that financially this was not the best avenue to pursue. I wanted a career that I could take with me into retirement, but most importantly one that is flexible and will allow me the freedom to nurture the creative side of me. We did our research and found that Nursing was more aligned with our future goals. Exhibit B.
I'm currently enrolled full-time as a Pre-Nursing student at Boise State fulfilling my Science pre-req's. Here are my thoughts: In an ideal world, I would take all my pre-req's (pass the first time - ahem Microbiology), apply to the program, be accepted, complete the remaining academic & clinical requirements, take & pass my NCLEX (also the first time) all by - tomorrow afternoon. "Me, impatient? No."
However, we don't live in the ideal world, so I'm forced with... get ready for it - MAKING a DECISION! UGH! I hate that. Nonetheless, it's something I must do, because let's face it, I ain't gettin' any younger.
So, below is a cute little chart I made for ya'll to look at so you could help me make my decision. Do I go with?
A: CWI Accelerated Program
or
B: BSU Lifetime Education Program
I love the prospect of earning my Bachelors, but I also like the idea of the accelerated program & getting me out into the workforce quicker. So, I'd love to get your feedback on what YOU think!
