"You Will Have the Same Fate as the Victim of Delhi Gang-rape"

Posted on the 21 January 2013 by Shruti2910
A student of Allahabad University, 17, received an e-mail from her classmate asking her to give in to his unjustified demands or she would face the same consequences as Nirbhaya, Delhi gang rape victim met.
On January 7, Yu Asada, a Japanese actress took a taxi for Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, to her hotel in Mahipalpur. She was in Delhi for the film My Japanese Niece. That ride, she would never forget. "The cabbie charged me Rs 4,800. When told him I couldn't pay so much, he talked about the recent gang rape in Delhi and insinuated that I might meet the same fate. I was numb with fear", she said.

The above incidents are sourced from Ahmedabad Mirror and Times of India, respectively.
I feel ashamed and fraud. I thought the revolt on the streets, the tweets for respect for women, those Facebook updates demanding equality,  those kites with messages to improve our psyche, those blog posts..that EVERYTHING we did would bring a change in society...Everything has gone in vain. Jyoti Singh's life has gone in vain. The pain she went through has gone in vain. Journalist's and Media's idea of making a hype of this issue and mark a "too much" has gone in vain. Those celebrities' talk show on rape and the devil has gone in vain. I feel fraud. I feel just a fraud. In our attempt to make the issue big and bring it in notice and then bring a change, we made it a style quotient for rapists. People, we have all failed. Drastically.
