Do not travel to escape life but travel so that life does not escape you! ~ Dilys Goh
For a long time now, my sister wanted me to write a travel post for her blog, as a guest writer so here I am...I am Anu…I am a big foodie (just like all Punjabis), I love my babies…i.e my son and my 2 year old puggy…I love to take pictures and capture everyday moments…I love…love and absolutely love traveling and today in this post I am going to talk about a magical concept called DEAL TIME :))
Let me first introduce you all to a fantastic concept that we as a family (Me, Hubby and my son) follow dearly. So, there’s this very interesting thing in my sons school, which is called DEAR time(drop everything and read) when the whole school , just sits back and reads. In a way this concept goes very well with my crazy family, as we have what we call a DEAL time (drop everything and leave) that means no matter how busy we are, how much work we have to do, we just leave, even if it is for a day. And mostly it's not planned. DEAL time trips are normally as short as 1 or 2 days.
This time we landed at Westin Resort and Spa (Sohna), which is about 1 1/2 hour drive from south Delhi. Well, if you are looking for a quite hideout from the world and connect with your inner self, indulge in some self pampering, then that’s the place for you. Once you get there, there’s a sense of calmness. We were greeted warmly with the refreshing welcome drink. After that, I was energized enough to start exploring the place. The resort is spread across 37 acres of lush green land. (image source - Westin website)
The first thing I wanted to see was obviously my villa (room), it exceeded my already high expectations, it was a beautiful cottage with their famous four poster Westin heavenly bed (it totally justified the name), a separate sitting area, and our very own private backyard with a hammock but the best part was their huge bathroom area fitted with a Jacuzzi with natural skylight.
After relaxing a bit in our very luxurious and beautiful room, we headed for our heavenly spa(as the name suggests),there they introduced us to a variety of spa treatments and then we settled for a 90 minute belemisse massage (the best 90 minutes of my entire day) after the message ,steam and shower, the session ended with a cup of green tea. I came out feeling all fresh, relaxed and positive. All this time my son was occupied in the kids’ zone and was taken care of nicely. Then we headed for some play time with our son, he cycled around the resort (they have cycles there), rest of the evening was spent in the pool relaxing again!! (image source -Westin website)
After all this, all I could think of was FOOD :)…for dining they have some great restaurants and lounges which u can choose according to your mood and tastes like splash(snacks),The Living Room(international cuisine ) and Xiao chi restaurant ( Chinese ). So we selected The Living Room and had a wonderful 3 course meal. They serve everything from Indian to Chinese to continental all at one place. So a perfect day came to anend as I fell asleep all I could think of was how relaxed and wonderful my day was and couldn't wait to start a new day.(image source -Flickr)Next day I and my 6 yr old son woke up early…being a nature lover, my son loves to go for walks plus I enjoy his company, he serves as a map too (lol) and as far as my husband is concerned…he is not much of an early bird, so we left him in his luxurious sleep and put on our walking shoes and went for a walk after the refreshing walk in the greens, we knew Jacuzzi was waiting for us so without any further delay, we jumped in…although we have Jacuzzi in my son's bathroom, but here it was a different experience all together with all the natural light coming in, (see the pic you will know why) while my husband went for a swim after getting ready we headed for breakfast well it was a great buffet spread. After indulging in some great food, my son wanted to go for horse riding, so we happily obliged, he then went on to do some duck feeding, played with the rabbits and then it was our check out time…
