A Milestone...

Posted on the 05 June 2012 by Felicakes @felicakes

Last Sunday marked a very important milestone for me. I ran my first race. Although it was just a 4km race, it was still something that I am proud of doing. I ran the HBF Run for a Reason race. I made it in just a little over 30 minutes. I have never ran that far or that long in my entire life and I have never felt that happy.

It was a relatively cold morning and I nearly didn't make it out the doors (bedroom and front) but I had May running with me so I knew that there was no way I could back out. I was expected to be at the race one hour before it started. I had a running buddy who would give me the motivation to run continuously. I had the confidence to run because I have been training since January to do so.

When I was registering for the run back in January, I was asked a simple question "What was your reason for running?" My answer was simple. To run to cure Cancer. I lost one of my uncle to cancer 2 years back and I was dedicating the run to him. My Uncle CK lost his battle to pancreatic cancer in 2010. He was the first person I know personally who passed away from Cancer. He was one of the most bubbliest and funniest person I have ever met. Although I have not seen him in years, we still kept in touch via facebook and blogging and when Mom told me that he passed, I remember feeling so upset that he wouldn't be able to see the Lil' Tiger. So he was the biggest reason why I got out of bed and out those doors and ran my first race. He was my reason and I hope he is proud of what I did.
