The preloaded apps can be divided into categories including educational kids apps and family apps. Educational kids apps include the following:
- Seven Mr Nussbaum apps which cover a range of topics including maths, language, science and social studies
- MeeGenius, an app for children's books which is an easy-to-use library of e-books you and your little ones can enjoy
- Spot the Differences, a fun kids app where you have to race against time to spot all the differences.
- Toon Googles which is a children's entertainment online channel that provides a range of child and parent friendly cartoons (clips, trailers, episodes, and features) for free. The content is suitable for children of all ages allowing them to view new cartoons through a safe and protected website.
- Color & Draw for Kids Starter edition, an award winning children's drawing app which lets kids get creative drawing on a blank canvas or selecting a drawing from the colouring book with an option to add stickers to their masterpieces.
- Boys Colour! by Aligator apps is packed full of cool drawings boys will love including rockets, monsters, cowboys and buses to name but a few. There is also lots of sticker fun to be had with a range of stickers and backgrounds to choose from.
- Girls Colour! by Aligator apps is full of drawings that will appeal to girls including fairies, flowers, cats and dogs. Like the Boys Colour! app there is also lots of sticker fun to be had.

Family apps include the following:- Angry Birds, the well known and loved app where the survival of the Angry Birds is at stake.
- Fruit Ninja, the popular fruit-slicing game which young and old will love.
- Cut the Rope, the fun app where you have to feed the little monster candy.
- Doodle Jump, the highly addictive game where you tilt the tablet to guide Doodle on his journey avoiding black holes, and blasting baddies with nose balls along the way.
- World of Goo, a physics based puzzle game where you have to complete a number of challenges.
- Where's My Water, a fun app all the family is sure to love. It is described as "a is a fun, simple - yet challenging - physics-based puzzle game featuring Swampy the Alligator and his quest to take a shower".
- Cookies Puzzle in which you have to help Star Fox navigate through cookies who are blocking his way so he can escape.
- World Cup Soccer, a fun app where you have to try and score as many goals as possible.
- Guess the Instrument, you have to guess which instrument is being played.
- Magic Designer, a jigsaw like game where you have to put the pieces together to complete the puzzle.
- Aldiko Premium, an eBook Reader for Android.
- Calendar which you can add events and use as a planner.
Family apps
Having being used to playing apps on the iPad, it did admittedly take me a little while to get used to the screen size, but now I am, it definitely doesn't make a difference and the Kurio feels really nice to hold being that bit smaller which has lead me to think that the 7 inch size is probably more comfortable for smaller kids to handle and play. For me, a good test of the Kurio was to compare apps such as Angry Birds and World of Goo which I am used to playing on my iPad. I found the user experience is on par, the touch screen is as reactive and responsive as the iPad so it gets the thumbs up from me.Tomorrow Ben and I will be reviewing our favorite Kurio apps and giving you a closer look at them.
