I got this from Sample Room a few months back. The sample had enough product in it so I was able to use it for months, enough time to come up with a decent impression about the product.
From Sample Room:Essential quickly absorbed hydrating day cream. Boosts the skin’s natural moisture for long lasting comfort. Powered by Osmoter™ for natural moisture leaving the skin feeling fresh, supple and soft, gaining back its natural glow.
Essentially, this is a basic moisturizer made for normal to dry skin. It is paraben-free, hypoallergenic and doesn't contain any spf despite it being a day moisturizer.
My review at Sample Room:"I have combination skin and as this moisturizer is for normal and dry skin, I thought I should give it a try thinking that I'd only need a very small amount to cover my face. I was right! And instead of feeling greasy and oily, as I always felt with moisturizers made for dry and normal skin, this left my face feeling moisturized. I would probably skip using this on extra-humid days as that would be pushing it too far. Over-all I love my experience with this moisturizer. It has a decent smell that doesn't irritate my nose even on days when I'm extra sensitive to smell. It spreads evenly and easily and I would love to purchase the full size!"
The thing about sample room is that you are already allowed to post a review after you have used the product for 5 days at least. But as far as reviews go, especially on skin care products, the longer you use it, the better the review is. So except for a few exceptions, I normally try out a particular product for months first before I do a review on this blog.
As for Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer, while my opinion about it hardly changed, I realized that I probably wouldn't purchase the full size, contrary to what I said in sample room.
While it's true that it's a bit more expensive than my regular moisturizer, I realized too that I simply can't make it work with my skin type - which is the combination type.
I do agree that it's a good moisturizer for people with dry skin. But I think it's better for me to purchase moisturizers that are specifically made for my skin type.
TextureAhava Essential Day Moisturizer is similar to lotion, but is slightly thicker. It isn't sticky and for a moisturizer that is made for normal to dry skin, it absorbs quickly.
There are two things that I've grown to love about Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer.
1) A little goes a long way. Because the product is thick, you'll only need a small amount. That is how this little sample tube, which is about 1/4 of the full size, lasted for months. A pea-sized amount is all I need to cover my face.
2) SmellIt has that clean smell combined with an almost muddy smell that reminds me of Ahava Mud Mask. I've grown to like it.
Conclusion:Good moisturizer. But not the moisturizer for me.
I learned to be more careful with my review in Sample Room too. I should make my reviews there more like a "first impressions" review.
I also got Ahava Purifying Mud Mask and I'm going to review that next.
