Best Sunscreen / Sunblock That I’ve Tried So Far!

Posted on the 14 April 2015 by Genzelkisses

Everyone’s enjoying the summer? I hope you are! I’m still yet to plan my summer escapade this year, but these days, I’m just stuck at home and on my full schedule every week. I’m trying my best to find time to have a simple vacation. I wanted to go back to Baguio! The last time I’ve been there was with my family, that was year 1999 if I’m not mistaken. Oh yeah, 16 years since I’ve last seen Burnham Park! I remember we stayed at Star Plaza Hotel and I’m not sure if the hotel still exists! It might have been renamed or something.

Anyway, since I’ve been on sunblock / sunscreen spree the past few months, I would love to share with you these sun protection products that I’m liking so far! I’m a very forgetful person therefore I like duplicate items around me. Like earphones, I have one in my gym bag, laptop bag, everyday bag, music room, and bedroom. I really hate it when I’m waiting and would like to listen to music to kill time then I’ll discover I left my earphones in my laptop bag! And that’s how I solve things like this and so goes with sunscreens!

Tada, a mini collection of sunblock! Some of you might say I’m crazy to use all these, but I think that’s fine as long as I don’t use them all at the same time right? Oh by the way, you know I love using whitening products?

Tip: If you’re into whitening, going out without any sun protection is your biggest sin and expect burning your skin at the end of the day. Your skin will darken twice as much if you’re not wearing sunblock! I always get questions like, “I’m using this product that works on you but have been using it for a decade, how come it doesn’t work on me?”. Then when I ask, are you using any sunblock? And I get NO as an answer. There you go, that’s the answer my love.

Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA+++
P2,100.00 (50ml)

First stop, my gym buddy, Shiseido Wet Force! I got this during the Shiseido International Beauty Fair. It promises to be very water resistant and even gets you protected more when you perspire or in water. I don’t have any way to prove that (let me know if you have), but so far so good! I go to the gym around 7am – 10am, and when I drive, the sun is all over my face and arms. I don’t reapply this sunblock but my face never gets burned.

Oh by the way, for more info regarding the PA++++, what is it for etc., you can read my long time archived post here.

Formula: Liquidy, no sticky or greasy feeling

Benefits: It has skincare properties, moisturizes the skin, and incredibly waterproof!

Heroine Make Sunkiller in Cool Perfect Strong SPF50+ PA+++

I got this from my BDJ Box Elite – Heroine Make Exclusive Box. It’s one of my fave sunblocks ever! This one is a staple in my skincare pouch. It gives my skin that minty cool feeling, and I my skin feels fresher every time I use it. Another thing that I like about this? It gives a nice matte and smooth finish, preparing the skin for makeup even without the use of a primer.

Nivea Sun Daily Face Fluid SPF30+ PA++

If you won’t stay outside for too long, or will just stay in the house (yes, you must wear sunblock even at home!), this one is perfect! It has SPF 30+ and PA++, a little lower than the previous ones I’ve mentioned. It’s also more affordable compared to the first two. I believe, regular price of this will cost you around P200.00. I bought this on sale last year when Nivea had their crazy sale. I like this for everyday use. This is the one that I leave in my bedroom at my skinscare area. Now you know what to get once Nivea announced another sale!

Eu Thermale Avene Hydrance UV Light SPF50+

This one I got recently during the Avene’s blogger’s night. First time to see this kind of packaging in a sunblock and I adore it! It comes in a tube with pump (w/ cap). Aside from sun protection, it’s rich in skincare properties due to the Avene Thermal Spring water ingredient. It has a very light sweet scent when applied. It’s great for those with super sensitive skin or skincare problems. I like to keep it in my everyday bag.

Application: 2-3 pumps is enough to cover the entire face.

Recommendation: Great for sensitive skin, for everyday use, and for dry skin. I love how it moisturizes and treats the skin.

14 Best Sunblock - Sunscreen - Shiseido Wetforce - Heroine Make Sunkiller - Nivea Daily Face Fluid - Belo SunExpert - Avene Hydrance Light UV - Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock - Genzel Kisses (c)

Belo SunExpert Sunblock (Face) SPF40 PA+++

Belo has released a ton of skincare products the past months. They have this so called Belo SunExpert line that focuses mainly on sun protection products. They have one for the face, body, spray type, and even an amazing anti-UV umbrella! How cool is that?! I got this as a sample (using my points) from Sample Room and it’s in full size baby! Nice choice of color and packaging, indeed for summer! It has lighter consistency compared to Avene’s, non-sticky, non-comedogenic, has Anti-aging (hello there mid-20 peeps!), and Paraben Free! I will definitely recommend this to a friend who’s not a fan of products with Paraben. It moisturizes the skin and I like to wear this everyday on regular days. You need to reapply whenever you perspire or every after swimming session.

15 Best Sunblock - Sunscreen - Shiseido Wetforce - Heroine Make Sunkiller - Nivea Daily Face Fluid - Belo SunExpert - Avene Hydrance Light UV - Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock - Genzel Kisses (c)

Formula: Light cream consistency

Benefits: Non-sticky, non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores), has anti-aging benefits, and Paraben free! It’s also affordable compared to other brands. Dermatologist tested.

Application: A generous amount like in the photo can cover the entire face and neck. Massage until fully absorbed by the skin.

16 Best Sunblock - Sunscreen - Shiseido Wetforce - Heroine Make Sunkiller - Nivea Daily Face Fluid - Belo SunExpert - Avene Hydrance Light UV - Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock - Genzel Kisses (c)

Recommendation: For everyday use, normal days (no long activities under the sun), dry skin type, sensitive skin, and mid-20’s guys due to its anti-aging benefits.

Where to purchase? Watsons, SM Beauty Section, and Sample Room (check if they still have samples!)

17 Best Sunblock - Sunscreen - Shiseido Wetforce - Heroine Make Sunkiller - Nivea Daily Face Fluid - Belo SunExpert - Avene Hydrance Light UV - Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock - Genzel Kisses (c)

Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock Extreme SPF80

And last but not the least, something that you can use for the body as well. Oh I forgot to mention, the previous ones I’ve listed are for the face and neck only. This one from Dermplus is great for the face and body. Something that you can bring in outings or travel if you don’t want to have a separate sunblock for the face. It comes in different tube sizes and sachets too! Since it also works for the body, it’s Water Resistant (reapply every after swimming or when necessary), PABA Free, and dermatologist tested.

19 Best Sunblock - Sunscreen - Shiseido Wetforce - Heroine Make Sunkiller - Nivea Daily Face Fluid - Belo SunExpert - Avene Hydrance Light UV - Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock - Genzel Kisses (c)

Formula: Thick cream consistency but lathers well. Absorption may take a while though.

Benefits: a 2-in-1 sunblock (face and body), dermatologist tested, water resistant, high SPF

Application: Use a pea-size amount for the face, then for the body, apply to the entire area until everything is covered with sunblock. Massage for faster absorption.

20 Best Sunblock - Sunscreen - Shiseido Wetforce - Heroine Make Sunkiller - Nivea Daily Face Fluid - Belo SunExpert - Avene Hydrance Light UV - Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock - Genzel Kisses (c)

Recommendation: Since it’s thicker compared to other sunscreens I’ve mentioned, I suggest you use this one for the body alone then have a different sunscreen for the face. If you’re good with thick creams, you can use this for both to save you space in your luggage when you travel.

Where to purchase? I see these at Watsons and Mercury Drug. For sure you can find them also on SM Beauty section, supermarket, and other leading drugstores nationwide.

I hope that you find this post useful especially this summer! Let me know if you’ve tried or currently using anything on my list and your thoughts about it! If you’re a home buddy and don’t have time to go to malls or supermarkets for these, I browsed through Zalora under their Beauty Section and I found a list of skincare and sunscreens like ones from VMV Hypoallergenics, Belo, Essence, and many more! Check it here to see their list of skincare products.

Wishing you a fabulous summer adventure this year!
