It is no secret that my family (and most ASIANS) LOVES eating and we basically live to eat. Every part of our lives revolves around eating something. When I go back to my home country, we basically have at least 6 meals a day. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. Yum. Everything is so cheap and readily available there that all we have to do is jump in our car and drive to the near by hawker place.

I remember M telling me after his first visit to Malaysia that he was so scared because all we did was eat and try new food. He was so scared to look at another bowl of rice after spending a week in Malaysia. :*)

Unfortunately, I do not have such pleasures here in Australia. Every time we eat out, it will cost us at least $50 for a family of 3. It's ridiculous. Working full time, also makes it a little difficult for me to cook meals that requires 3-4 hours to prepare. So what does this foodie with a hungry all the time family do? Why... look up recipes online and cook them of course.

One blog that I often visit is Chopstick Diner. Chopstick Diner is the brain child of my friend Elaine Ho. I have known Elaine since my Uni days and if you knew her back then, you will know how far she has come. Elaine graduated with a degree in Food Science and Tech, see again with the Asians and the obsession with food that we have to have a degree in it. When she moved back home to Malaysia a couple of years ago, she began experimenting with her cooking.

Now a mom to a beautiful little girl, her blog has taken Malaysia by storm by sharing her secrets and tips in cooking the perfect meal at home. Her recipes are quick, simple and easy to follow. Perfect for a busy mom like me or if you

One of my favorite no fail recipe from Chopstick Diner is the Garlic Fried Rice (pictured). Here is the recipe straight from the blog...

Garlic Fried Rice

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Serves 2

2 cups overnight cooked rice

2 garlic bulb, skin peeled and finely chopped

2 teaspoon teriyaki sauce

1 chicken egg

2 tablespoon vegetable oil

pepper and salt for taste

spring onions, finely chopped for garnish

1. Heat oil over high heat

2. Add chopped garlic and stir fry for approximately 5 minutes over medium heat until golden brown

3. Remove garlic from the oil and put aside

4. Using the same oil the garlic was cooked in, add cooked rice, teriyaki sauce and stir fry over high heat for 5 minutes

5. Add eggs and continue stir frying

6. Season with salt and pepper

7. Garnish with spring onions

Mmmmm.... Tasty. Elaine recommends that you use more garlic if you are brave enough. Just don't have this dish before going out on a date or going to an important meeting. If you do, make sure you have chewing gum available. So I usually add another bulb of garlic.

You can visit Chopstick Diner HERE or say hello to Elaine on the Facebook page. Tell her Feli sent you. :*)
