If you know how to look, it's easy to find these in between the pages of a good book.
This photoset means so much to me, not only because it's my first time ever to do a solo shoot but also because I'm a bookworm myself.
I'm the girl who used to read way past bedtime, using only the dim light of the cellphone screen. I'm the girl who tries her best to hide a book behind the school textbook while the teacher drones on about history or calculus. Yes, I'm that same girl who can't put her book down even while walking on the streets, not minding how strangers are probably staring and wondering what kind of nerd she was.
Books provided me with portals to many worlds. Many times I've experienced exhilarating adventures and witnessed the creation and destruction of different worlds. I joined inter-galactic politics and watched children play war games in a Battleschool. I've lamented over the deaths of my favorite characters and rejoiced at the victory of the main character - which during the duration of the story became my best friend. And all of these were long before vampires were glittering, love-struck high-schoolers but rather beautifully dangerous immortals created by Anne Rice.
I guess one of the reasons why I've been so engrossed in reading so much is because it provided my an escape from reality.
Because of books, I see more colors whenever I close my eyes.
But the best part is when I finally learned to open them.
When I did, I came to realize that the wonderful things I saw in my imagination can be found in the real world too, only in different but also familiar forms.

"Date a girl who reads...... Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.
She has to give it a shot somehow.
Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialog. It will not be the end of the world.
Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who read understand that all things must come to end, but that you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads."-Rosemarie UrquicoRead the full version here
RANT PART:
I am cheating again.
These pictures were originally posted at my photoblog. For a while I was fine with the idea of keeping them there and at my facebook. After all, they had quite enough exposure in facebook already. But I realized, this photoset means a lot to me after all and is more than just a collection of pretty pictures. And as much as I wanted to keep my photography ventures at my sunlit neverland only, as that's the main reason why that blog was created in the first place, this blog happened to be my original happy place. Also, the way tumblr works, or at least, the way I'm blogging there, it can't really accommodate how I want these photoset to be presented.
In the end, I reminded myself why I created this blog in the first place: share to the world stuff that I think are worth sharing. It's a no-brainer motto. But in times when I need directions, it helps a lot.
