Casa Verde

Posted on the 15 October 2012 by Ileodarod @ilevillegas

After months of listening to people talk about how good their baby back ribs is, I was finally able to visit Casa Verde.
Casa Verde
I opted to dine at their Ramos Branch, which is also where this popular chain of restaurant started. The restaurant building of this branch is the ancestral home of the founding family. It also interesting to take note that the location partly inspired the name of the restaurant, as Casa Verde means "Green Garden" in Spanish.  Plus, I heard that the food here is cheaper and better than the ones at Ayala and IT Park.

They had air conditioned room and non-air conditioned room. You can also dine at their garden, but I wasn't able to take a picture because it was getting crowded.
We didn't know what has gotten into us and we decided to come as early as 5:30pm. I think it's because my companion skipped his lunch. But I'm super glad that we did because by 6:30pm, the place started filling up with people.
Now for the food.
Casa VerdeBuffalo Wings - P128
This is described in their menu as breaded chicken wings fried until golden and tossed in our winger sauce and served with bleu cheese dressing.
The bleu cheese is what prompted me to order this one. And I was not disappointed at all. I love how this is slightly spicy. The sweetness of the sauce complements well with the dip. Despite the richness of the sauce and the dip, the flavor of the chicken is not overwhelmed at all.

Casa VerdeBrian's Ribs - P210
"Our best seller! Baked pork ribs with a sweet, tangy piquet sauce served with rice and corn and carrots."
First thing that I can say about this: it's HUMONGOUS. It looks even bigger in person. Although I've already heard from friends and read from other blogs about it's size, I just had to ask the waiter and she insisted it's good for one person only. Nevertheless, we only ordered one serving, plus extra cups of rice and I'm glad we did.
I can't forget how soft the meat of this dish is. It feels like it's almost melting inside my mouth. The sauce is a tad sweet. I like it but it may not suit the taste of those who are more used to the salty or sour sauces Filipinos usually partner with grilled pork and barbecued pork.
In short, kung pinoy ka, expect a slight umay factor.
After two cups of extra rice (P30 each) and a can of coke (P50), we were already full. We originally planned to try some of their cakes but we're too stuffed!

If you happen to pass by Cebu, I highly recommend this place!
I will definitely go back, either for the buffalo wings,or for brian's ribs. There are other interesting dishes in their menu too. When we were there, we saw a family order a GIANT burger. My companion was instantly amused and vowed to try that someday. As for me, I am more interested with their steaks and pasta.
You can check out their website for more details.
