China Garden Restaurant Review – Missing Warmth and Space

The ambience of China Garden is okay. It is in G block, Marina Arcade, Connaught Place. I went there for dinner. From the inner circle, you have to move towards the outer circle to reach here. The area is a sort of abandoned and lightless around the restaurant. Since I was getting late, and could not afford to search for another restaurant around and walk to that place, I decided to try it. Frankly speaking, this was my first time at China Garden restaurant in Connaught Place. And as said, the first impression is the last impression, it was not very good experience here. The moment you enter China Garden, there is a counter before entering the dining area. The counter itself is not very friendly. I had to tell my name and mobile number to get a go ahead for dining here.

After entry, the seating was not very comfortable. The pricing model of this restaurant demands a better cordiality and space. The warmth of welcoming and hospitality is a sort of missing here. And on top of it, I didn’t like the food at all. Fried Rice was not looking fried at all. It looked more like boiled rice. Similarly Paneer Special seems to be overpriced. There is nothing special in it. Would have enjoyed the same dishes at almost one-third the price.

Tables are too close that doesn’t give you a comfortable time spent there. And when their serving staff moves around or stands near the tables, it looks like a crowded place. As a matter of fact, I hate dining at places where somebody keeps standing on your head with an excuse of serving you. It looks too much of encroachment. And the worse part is when someone keeps staring at you while you are eating. Especially when you are with your family.
Just next to my table was a couple who had ordered chicken vegetable with clear instructions of not putting any chilly in it. When it was delivered at their table the lady was helpless and could not eat even a spoon of it as she was telling the waiter that it was too spicy that too when there were clear instructions from them.

Even we felt there was some crunchy unwanted stuff in our dishes as if the stuff was not cleaned properly. Moreover, the Paneer tasted a bit sour as if it was not fresh.

I would not recommend for two reasons:
1. Dishes are having high prices.
2. Stuff is not fresh and clean.

China Garden -Won’t Visit Again

I am wondering how safe it is to give your mobile number at restaurants. The next day after my review was there on Zomato my wife got a call from China Garden. It was not a friendly call. It came on her mobile (since it was her number we gave at the time of entry there). The call was from someone with the name Jason or George who was speaking in a very rough tone. The guy mistook her as my daughter and started asking her why your father has written like this?
I don’t think it is fair. Rather the guy must check who is there at the other end. Moreover, if required he should take the number of the person he wants to talk to. And he should have spoken to me for any clarifications. I will not call China Garden as one of the best restaurants in Delhi for Chinese Food.
