Classic Wedding and Party Dresses for Petite Women

Posted on the 13 April 2015 by Genzelkisses

Let’s admit it, whenever a family member is going to be married, as parents or immediate family member, we are truly excited for them both. We plan everything and are very keen to details. We even hire a wedding coordinator to make the whole event smooth-sailing as possible. I recently attended my cousins wedding and I was her Maid of Honor. You know what really excites me aside from her new journey as a wife? My gown! *laughs*

She went to Divisoria to buy gowns for her and her full entourage. I’m not very picky when it comes to dresses but I really want something that’s fit to my body. I’m small, around 4’11” and the gown she bought for me is gold, and pretty. However, the rest of the bridesmaids are really tall and I think, the gown looks great on tall people. I’ve browsed online and see some made to order dresses for petite women.

It’s a simple yet classy bridesmaid dress that looks good to small women. The length, style, and curve can give the illusion of added height.

Pleated Chiffon Flowers A-line Sexy Bridesmaid Dress

Chiffon material for dresses is good too aside from the design and length. A long V-line gives length on the upper portion of the body while knee-length bottom shows the calves.

Tip: Wear heels or stillettos without strap that will cut the illusion of length on the ankles. Don’t wear dresses with full coverage from neck to bottom.

Satin Natural Waist Sleeveless Long Neckline Trumpet Evening Dress

Long gowns and dresses is great for petite women too, if the style and designs are appropriate for small body types. Trumpet style gowns look nice. It’s called trumpet because it resembles the horn of the trumpet, narrow then gradually going wide, and widest in the ends. Just make sure that the cut or line starts at the middle of the thigh. The nearer to the waist, the shorter you’ll look like.

Tip: For trumpet dresses, the line or cut before the full skirt should start at the middle of the thigh.

Aside from style and length of dresses, colors can add illusion too! Pastel colors can add space and sometimes make you looks shorter depending on the cut and style of the dress while dark colors like black, old rose, etc., can make a person slim and adds length.

How about you? What do you look for when buying gowns?
