Dance to a Healthier You: Healthway Medical Hosts 2nd Corporate Dance Competition
Sitting is a major health risk. While it may come as a surprise from some, recent studies have shown that prolonged sitting is a health hazard contributing to different disorders such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer.
This fact is even more alarming considering that for those who have office jobs, staying seated to do their daily work is inevitable.
There is, however, a solution and it requires less sitting and overall movement. Healthway Medical, the country’s trusted and most preferred network of mall-based clinics, offers the perfect way for white-collared workers to get up and stay fit and hip with its dance competition entitled “Dance for Health 2: Take the Lead.”
Open to dance groups from some of the top corporate businesses in Metro Manila, the second installment of Healthway Medical’s Dance for Health competition promotes dancing as an avenue of maintaining an active, healthy and fun lifestyle. Sponsored by Pepsi, Avon Life, and Yan Yan International, the preliminary rounds, which took place last November 14 at Glorietta 5, attracted entries from various companies representing different industries such as BPOs, financial institutions, utilities, IT firms, among others.
Out of the 12 groups that participated, five were chosen by judges Jill Ngo, belly dance guru and Krista Roma member of The Philippine All-Stars, to move on to the finals. Set to dance their way to glory on December 14 at the Glorietta Activity Center are groups Powered Iox (Powerdiox Entertainment), One Vibe Convergys (Convergys One), Indak 24/7 (24/7 Inc.), EV Dance Crew (Eastvantage Business Solutions Inc.), and Landbank Got Talent All Stars (Landbank of the Philippines).
“We were overwhelmed by the participation of the companies that joined this year’s Dance For Health competition,” says Carmie de Leon, Healthway Medical Vice President for Sales and Marketing. “We want to use this event as a way to reach out to employees of companies and share a clear message that dancing is one of the best forms of relaxation from the stress at work. We want to be examples of how to live a healthy lifestyle that is why Healthway Medical Dancers take the lead in promoting dancing as a form of physical activity.”
Together with its sponsors, event partners Digital Lab and Pilipinas 911, media partners 2nd avenue, Business World, WheninManila.com and Genzelkisses.com, and venue partner Glorietta, “Dance for Health 2: Take the Lead” dance competition will award winners P50,000 for the first prize, P30,000 for the second prize, and P20,000 for the third prize.
Don’t miss a beat and catch these working class heroes dance their way to health during the finals of the “Dance for Health 2: Take the Lead” dance competition scheduled on December 14 at the Glorietta Activity Center.
