Eats a Date: Holy Crab #holycrabmentality

Posted on the 09 September 2014 by Genzelkisses

Aside from beauty and fashion, I also love to eat and try different restaurants. It’s a therapy for me and my boyfriend especially whenever we feel stressed from work and needed to reward ourselves for working so hard. So last week, I was invited for Eats a Date by Openrice and we visited Holy Crab in BF Homes Paranaque. It’s only less than 15 minute drive from boyfriend’s house without traffic.

If you’re from BF Homes Paranaque entrance, just drive straight and after two stop lights, you can find Holy Crab on your right side. Their parking area is a bit small though, good for two cars but you can park on side of the street.

Holy Crab Entrance, you can already feel the vibe of this restaurant just by the decors on the side. That surfing board says it all.

The area is spacious. There are tables for two, four, and six people. They can also rearrange the tables to accommodate larger number of guests like family dinner or reunion. I also love the paintings at the back as they add more color to the interior of the restaurant.

There are also tables and chairs at this side for guests. I really appreciate the kitchen area enclosed in a see-through glass walls as I can somehow take a peek of the food they are cooking. Going straight to that back door will lead you to another dining space with a different vibe.

I just love this wall decor, I’m gonna do this in my room too! ^_^

They have four larger tables here. This area is perfect for dinner with your friends/barkadas. More surfing boards and beach-y feel.

Now let’s go to the their menu!

You’ve seen this board on a photo above. So here are the simple steps on how to Holy Crab! :D You can choose from Shrimp, Crab, Local Mussels, or Holy Crab Catch (a mixture of the three plus squid and sweet corn). Then choose your sauce. My favorite is Bali Coco. Last step is to choose heat level (spicy level).

9 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Sizzling Salted Duck Egg and Grilled Pork Sisig

Sizzling Salted Duck Egg and Grilled Pork Sisig – P220.00

One of my favorites! They didn’t put salt but used salted duck egg instead. They also used liempo for the sisig which makes the dish tastier. If you like salty food and pork, you’ll love this.

10 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Pattaya Bay Fried Chicken

Pattaya bay Fried Chicken – P260.00

Very tasty from breading up to its meat. It’s also crunchy and tastes perfect combined with garlic-lime mayo.

11 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Hunan Wharf Tofu and Tousi Fish Fillet

Hunan Whart Tofu and Tousi Fish Fillet – P260.00

I needed to confirm if they used Dory fish for the fillet because it is tasty unlike the other fish fillets I’ve tried from other restaurants before. Whenever I’m in a restaurant and they have fish fillet in their menu, I always order it to try if the fish tastes good even if it’s dory. I also love the Tousi sauce! The tofu balanced the taste of the sauce and fish.

12 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Holy Crab Catch in Garlicky-Lime and Salted Egg

Holy Crab Catch in Garlicky-lime and Salted Egg Sauce – P650.00

If you want to try everything in one order, try this Holy Crab Catch! It’s a mixture of crab, shrimp, muscles, squid, and sweet corn. Then choose your favorite sauce. We asked why they put it in a thick plastic bag? The reason is for the spices to get absorbed faster.

13 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Shimp in Bali Coco Sauce

Shrimp in Bali Coco sauce – P500.00/pound

Another favorite of mine! Bali coco sauce is sweet, salty, and spicy (mixed). The shrimps taste fresh so I asked every when do they replenish their stocks for their ingredients and they said they have a lot of suppliers so they do it every other day.

14 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Crab

Clark Quay Crab – P145.00/100grams

The star of the table, of course, the Crab! I just find it hard to eat crab in a restaurant, you have to crack the shell and exert extra effort to get the meat but they are all worth it. It’s so delicious and tastes fresh. When eating crab, the sauce is really important for me. I like the sweet and spicy sauce with a kick of lemon juice.

15 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Local Mussels

Local Mussels – P330.00

These are local mussels but they are so big, I mean, BIG! Again, very tasty and fresh. I just find it a bit hard to open the shells. It’s a perfect match for the bacalao rice.

16 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Garlic Overload Rice

Garlic Overload Rice (good for 3-4 pax) – P190.00

The garlic flavor is not too overpowering which I like plus the taste of butter mixed with garlic and a little salt is superb! Very affordable and can serve up to 4 people.

17 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Bacalao Fried Rice

Bacalao Fried Rice (good for 3-4 pax) – P190.00

Our most favorite fried rice! Dried fish with a little garlic, onion, and salt. Perfect match for any seafood viand.

18 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Raspberry Citrus Cooler and Blue Sea Lemonade

Raspberry Citrus Cooler and Blue Sea Lemonade – P175.00/pitcher

They served us these two very refreshing drinks! I’m not an expert when it comes to drinks but I think they mixed a little alcohol to each pitcher, I forgot to ask to confirm, however I really like the raspberry one.

19 Holy Crab - Eats a Date - OpenRice - Genzel Kisses (c) - Crabby Island Coco Mango

Crabby Island Coco Mango – P120.00

For the dessert, my most favorite among all that were served to us, this Crabby Island Coco Mango!!! Yay! Mango + Nata + Vanila and Pandan Cream = Heaven for me! It’s so nice to know that the ice cream is their in-house recipe. It’s so creamy and super tasty. I even asked if they sell a pint or gallon of it because I am very much willing to buy.

With the Openrice bloggers and Holy Crab Owner Ms. Peter

Overall, it’s a nice place to visit if you’re looking for seafood, especially crabs, plus they also have other recipes like chicken and pork. Try their Grilled sisig! For the sauce I highly recommend you try the Bali Coco with any of the three (crab, shrimp, or mussels). For the rice, go for Bacalao Rice if you like dried fish, Garlic Overload rice is good too. Don’t forget to order their Crabby Island Coco Mango for dessert. Honestly, I liked everything that was served to us (no bias) but the ones mentioned are my favorites. I also appreciate their customized plastic bib to protect your clothes from stains while eating. ^_^

Here is a copy of their menu so if you want to visit, you can already have a list of what to order ;)
