Eau Thermale Avene, Official Launch in the Philippines

Posted on the 29 April 2015 by Genzelkisses

A few weeks ago, I attended the official launch of Eau Thermal Avene, or simply Avene here in the Philippines. I first heard about them in our makeup artists group discussion on Facebook about a great moisturizer, primer, and finishing spray that they use on their clients. And then when my parents had a vacation here in the country, we went to SM Mall of Asia and I saw the Avene boutique in SM beauty section. I wasn’t able to know more about the product since my mom was in a hurry so I promised myself to go back. Then fortunately, I got an invite for the launch! *happy dance*

Sharing with you some tidbits on the event. I apologize for the photos since I just used my digicam (not so great for night photography), it’s what I bring when I commute going to events.

Aside from the infamous Avene Thermal Spring water, they also have separate beauty product lines to address different skin concerns.

They have specific products for people with hypersensitive, Cleanance for oily, and Hydrance for normal to combination skin.

I’m very much excited to try their micellar water makeup remover – Avene Makeup Remover (bottles on the left-most). I honestly perfer micellar makeup removers, aside from it effectively removes makeup, there’s no need to rinse or wash your face with water after!

They have Avene Essentials – Cold Cream and Gentle Cleanser / Toner, for dry skin and Avene Sensitive White – whitening products (hooray! I love whitening products!).

For people who are already in mid-20s like me, it’s time for us to take extra care of our skin and consider using anti-aging products. Avene has the Eluage Anti-aging line for us! I’m excited to try this line!

Since it’s summer, it’s very important to use sun protection products. We have the Avene Sun Care, available in cream, tinted cream, emulsion, and spray. I’ve tried the cream one and included in my most recommended sun screen list here.

And of course, the star of the night, the Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water! Yes you got it right, it’s directly from the well-known thermal spring in a small town in France called, Avene.

As a makeup artist, we use this to prep the skin prior to makeup. It works as a great moisturizer, making the skin supple and hydrated, ready for makeup application. We know that makeup is great when applied to hydrated and healthy skin. You can also use this to set the makeup (after application).

It’s also a skin refresher! Like after working out in the gym, you can just pump a few spray on your face to refresh your skin or just whenever you feel your skin is drying and need moisture, use this.

I’ll talk more about this as you read on.

During the event, there’s a free skin analysis. Here’s Shen of Shen’s Addiction trying out the service.

Using this device I’m holding. They will analyze your skin according to the photos below.

It can be a photo or video of the skin beneath your skin surface / first layer.

Okay, I’m ashamed to show you my skin diagnosis *haha*

So in clockwise motion, my chin area is okay. Then next is my forehead and around my cheeks, they appear to be dry hence the lines. On my frontal cheek area, the one around the nose, I have small bumps. Last, my nose has a lot of bumps! Ahhh! I believe my skin is better now. My skin gets worst every time I have my monthly period. I know you girls will understand. 😀

See how big the city is? Yes, this is a secluded place to preserve the thermal spring water and its efficacy. This is called Avene, hence the Avene products. Here they also treat patients with skin diseases like psoriasis. There was a sponsored child from the Philippines and got treated here for 3 weeks.

“These facilities were inaugurated in 1990 and are equipped with a modern hydrotherapy care center using state-of-the-art hydrotherapy equipment with the best medical monitoring; the traditional clinic therefore runs hand in hand with scientific hydrotherapy.

Finally a production plant for cosmetic containing Avène water was built and inaugurated at the end of 1989.

In 2004, the old hydrotherapy center has been replaced by an ultramodern new establishment perfectly integrated into the peaceful and welcoming countryside. The floor area has been doubled and we can now welcome until 800 patients per day.”

So how it all started?

A horse belonging to Marquis de Rocozels, had skin rashes. The horse drank the spring water and rolled itself on it daily. Then later on, they noticed that the horse was finally cured from the rashes and grew shiny hair. It was not specifically date but it’s around 1736.

It has gained attention from the doctors, then they advised their patients to use the warm Avene Thermal Spring water for their skin disorders. Then, Avene Thermal Spring water was later used to treat the victims of third degree burns after the 1871 Chicago fire.

Fast forward to present, laboratories were built and they are now treating patients using state-of-the-art hydrotheraphy facilities in Avene.

FYI: Eau Thermale Avène originated from Avène, a small town in the South of France that is famous for its thermal spring with “healing water.”

Avène Thermal Spring Water

“Thermal spring water is naturally mineralized spring water which curative virtues allow for therapeutic use. It possesses a collection of characteristics which provide it properties favorable to human health and recognized to be of public interest by The National Academy of Medicine. Among its characteristics are its deep origin, its determined and constant chemical and physical properties (flow, composition, pH), its Pharmacological properties and its being purely natural (does not undergo any physical or chemical treatment).

Thermal spring waters are ranked according to their content of minerals and can be plain or carbonated. The low mineral composition of Avène thermal spring water (266 mg/l), its particular balance in minerals and trace elements and its optimal Ca/Mg ratio (Calcium/Magnesium) make Avène thermal spring water very gentle. Avène thermal spring water is also bacteriologically pure, odorless, tasteless and colorless which makes it dedicated and adapted to the most sensitive skin. Among its competitors which include La Roche Posay, Vichy and Uriage, Avène has the lowest mineral content.”

The Spray: A Unique Packaging

Avène thermal spring water is bacteriologically pure, which means it is not polluted by bacteria or other microorganisms. This major quality is maintained intact in the Avène Spray with the use of high technologies: it is bottled in a sterile unit at the source site. This process gives the assurance of having the authentic spring water delivered at the Avène Hydrotherapy Center.

Avène thermal spring water is packaged in a sterile container. The conditioning lines of the thermal water spray cans are specifically equipped in order to maintain a sterile atmosphere allowing maintenance of the unchanged qualities of the water, particularly its purity. The Avène Spray also contains nitrogen, an environment-friendly inert gas and has no expiration date.

Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water spray comes in different bottle sizes: 50ml, 100ml, and 300ml.

Personally, I’m a fan of this product. I asked my boyfriend (he has skin allergies and psoriasis on some parts of his face) to try this product. Ever since he started to use the spray, then I replaced his regular cleanser with Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser, his skin has improved a lot. The small bottle (50ml), that I got during the event is now empty and we badly need to purchase the biggest bottle soon! I’ve taken his before photos already and I’ll update you guys in this same post with the results :)

For me, I use it morning and evening after cleansing and toning my face before I proceed to other skincare products that I use in my skincare routine. Then for my clients, I use it to prep their skin before I apply makeup. I also use this before and after working out in the gym. I feel refreshed and my skin feels relieved from the hot weather every time.

Other Avene products that I’m using: Gentle Milk Cleanser, Hydrance Moisturizer, and Sunblock.
