Five Staple Items for Your Summer Holiday Capsule Wardrobe

Posted on the 29 July 2014 by Mummysspace @mmeeee
If you’re jetting off to a warmer shore this summer, or even if you’re hanging on a few months for some fun in the winter sun, a holiday wardrobe filled with gorgeous outfits and beach-friendly threads will be essential. Rather than packing everything but the kitchen sink, stay within your luggage allowance by being sensible about what you pack. Mix and match your items so that you can wear certain pieces more than once and utilise the suitcase space that you have as wisely as possible. Think about money too – if you are on a budget, and need to keep as much money aside to use a spending money once you’re at your chosen destination, you can buy some fantastic clothes from George at ASDA which won’t break the bank but will look fabulous on the beach, poolside and elsewhere. Check out these five capsule items for inspiration and treat yourself ahead of your well-deserved break!

Maxi Dresses

Whether it’s to use as a cover-up at the beach, or as something cool and floaty for an evening meal at one of the local restaurants, a maxi dress is a versatile piece of clothing that can be dressed up, or down. Team with a pair of sandals and some glitzy accessories and you have a readymade outfit for the night, or sling on some flip flops for a casual daytime look.

Playsuits

Playsuits are one of the season’s must-haves, and with so many to choose from, you can guarantee finding one that suits your individual style. The gorgeous Floral Jersey Jumpsuit from George for £12 would be ideal for mild evenings, while the short playsuits would be perfect for daytime glamour.

Bandeau Tops

Simple, pretty and chic, bandeau tops look fab with a pair of shorts and will also mean that you won’t have to endure tan lines from various strappy tops and T’s!

Swimwear

The type of swimwear you treat yourself to will depend on your personal style. Some people would prefer not to sport an itsy bitsy bikini, opting instead for a tummy-hugging one-piece, while others will be happy to bare all on the beach. Tankinis are a great compromise if you would prefer to avoid a one-piece, too. Choose a bold print to stand out from the crowd – bright paisley prints, animal prints and metallic styles, for example!

Kaftan

There’s nothing quite as simple as using a kaftan to cover up on the beach. Pop it on over your swimwear and match with a pair of flip flops, and remove once you’re at the beach and ready to bask in the sunshine. Kaftans are stylish, chic and elegant, and available in an array of colours. They’re also lightweight and easy to fit into small places in your suitcase – take two or three if you must!
New clothes needn’t cost a fortune. Treat yourself to some new gear for your next holiday abroad, and look and feel fabulous in the sun!
