Low-quality eye-shadows are a thing of a past now. But the memory of them makes me happy and grateful whenever I discover a good eye-shadow palette.
Gosh Smokey Eyes Palette 03 Plum
"The eye shadows in this smokey eyes palette has an amazing pay-off and very strong color intensity. They have a slight shiny surface that looks beautiful when mixing the colours and it is possible to use the lighter colours as a highlight in the inner corner of the eye and on the brow bone directly under the eye brow. Inside the palette there is a guide to create the most amazing smokey eyes."
- Strong color intensity
- With a guide to make Smokey Eyes inside the lid
- Easy to apply
It also comes with a guide on how to apply the eye-shadow for that smokey-eye look. It's not really necessary, but it's a nice addition.
Colors:#1 is a cool-toned white that is a highlight.#2 is a creamy light plum with a golden sheen#3 is a pale taupe with purple undertones#4 is a deep plum
All four has very very fine shimmers. #1 has the least and is hardly visible. #2 has the most shimmers I think. It makes the color more interesting and it looks different depending on the amount of light. As #4 is the darkest, it's also a little sparkly.
The sparkles and shimmers however are very fine and doesn't transfer easily.
Texture and SmellThe eye-shadows are finely-milled. I just love the texture. They are also very easy to apply and easy to blend. Considering that this is a smokey-eye palette, there's very minimal fall-outs.
LongevityWithout primer, they last about 4 hours on my oily lids. With make-up base, they last about 7 hours.
Intensity While #4 is a pretty opaque color, the rest of the palette are sheer. You can't achieve a dark, sultry smokey-eyes with these colors unless you use other darker eye-shadows. I find that it's great for achieving soft and wearable smokey-eyes though. And that's what I love love love about this palette. It allows me to achieve subtle smokey-eyes that are perfect for simple occasions.
Boyfriend-Approved Romantic Look
Not all romantic looks are boyfriend-approved. So for that special date, set aside the huge circle lenses, thick eye-liner and dark eye-shadows and give them a break. Instead of looking sexy or girly, you'd want to look like a lady.
Here's how I would do my make-up in preparation for a romantic date:
I opted for a BB Cream with medium coverage so it still looks natural.Eyebrows are neither too thick or thin.I applied a pink lip tint first before applying lipstick. This is so i'll still have a bit of lip color left once my lipstick start fading while eating.
Now for the eyes: Gosh Smokey Eyes Palette's guide comes in handy.
Because I wanted a soft look, I skipped eyeliner and just used mascara alone.
Instead of using powder blush, I used a cheek tint instead.I normally don't like contouring my nose. But this time I did a very subtle contouring using my Elf Bronzer. I also used #1 to highlight the bridge of my nose.
And here's the final look:
In this look, everything is subdued and soft. Smokey-eyes aren't too dark and there are no harsh lines. Pink lipstick isn't loud and contouring and highlighting is very minimal. Over-all, I think it lends me a more matured and dare I say, lady-like appearance.
