Holiday Classic Makeup Look 2013

Posted on the 31 December 2013 by Genzelkisses

It’s been a month since I posted an FOTD or makeup look here on my blog.  I planned to post one for Christmas and another for New Year’s eve but things do happen unexpectedly so finally here’s a simple look that you can try.  I opt for Holiday Classic Look since it’s very easy to do.

Eyeshadow application is something that I’m still mastering to apply.  I’ve been collecting makeup inspirations so I can practice practice practice.  I’m not yet sure if I will pursue makeup artistry in the future but knowing how to apply makeup properly to yourself makes a difference.  No need to go to salon or hire a makeup artist for normal occasions, plus you can even do it with others like your friends.

Red lipstick is a signature lip color during the holidays.  It makes the face look brighter in an instant.  I’m still getting used to it and so far liking it, but for me I still look better with pinks and cool colors.  I also can’t wait for my braces to be removed! Argh!

For the eyes, I used simple colors to pair with red lips.  I wanted something tamed than glittering gold.  Falsies to add some drama to the look.

I used my favorite MakeUp Academy Undressed Me palette (raved as a dupe for Naked 1) and my BYS Palette.

Here are the three colors that I played with!

1.  From BYS Palette for the lid.  It’s very pigmented and I admire the longevity.  I just apply it on my lids in patting motion to build the color.

2.  From MUA Undressed Me palette, 2nd pan at 2nd row from the left.  I used this for the outer V then blend, blend, blend.

3.  For the crease, I use this color from MUA palette 2nd from the left, first row.  Here, blending is key.

Add some more (same color used on the lids) at the middle of your eyelids to make the eye pop.

Products I used for the face

I didn’t use primer but if you’re planning to wear this for hours, you should apply it prior to foundation or BB Cream.

1.  Celeteque Multi-Benefit BB Cream.  I love this BB Cream!  No Breakouts plus the coverage is good.  You can read my review here.

2.  For concealing, I use my favorite from The Face Shop, Phytogenic Infinite Concealer.  It’s dual ended, one in cream stick form, and the other is liquid applied with a doe foot applicator.

3.  I love using loose powder on top of my makeup.  Here is the L.A Colors Loose Powder in the shade, Natural.  It doesn’t cake, nice coverage, and stays for hours.

Other products used for the face (blush, contour, highlight, brows, lips)

1.  My all time favorite, Sleek Face Form Palette.  Contour Powder, highlighter, and blush in one.  It give natural contour, flush, and light on the face.  I have reviewed it here by the way.

2.  For brows, I use Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Retractable pencil, click here for review.  I aslso used ELF Eyelid primer to prime my lids.

3.  ELF Mineral Lipstick in Cheerful Cherry, read my review here.

Tools

When I’m on a rush, I apply makeup using my clean fingers but for looks like this, I use makeup brushes for better and precise makeup application.  Here I used Marionnaud, Real Techniques, Almoner, and Artist Studio.  These are also my everyday basic makeup brushes.
