The Hot Dots Jr card set comes in a handy little carry case which stores the cards and pen inside and makes it a great choice of toy to bring with you if you are visiting friends or relations or need to keep little ones entertained in a waiting room or restaurant. The thirty six double sided cards have fun illustrations which are sure to appeal to kids who will love the bright colourful pictures. The cards set different challenges from counting the number of objects on the card and selecting the dot which corresponds to the correct number or word amount or choosing the next in a sequence of numbers and selecting it with the pen. The Hot Dots pen responds to correct answer with a green light and positive reinforcement while an incorrect answer receives a red light and a gentle wrong sound or phrase. This encourages kids while keeping the activity varied and interesting and develops different educational areas.
Ben loves playing Hot Dots Jr and after one go he really got the hang of it. At the start he needed my help with the word recognition cards but after a few sessions playing with them he seems to have started to recognize them for himself so it is clear he is learning through play.

Hot Dots Jr cards are available in different educational areas and are aimed at children aged 3-7 years with another version called Hot Dots for older kids. The Hot Dots Jr sets cover Problem Solving, Beginning Science, The Alphabet, Beginning Phonics, Shapes and Patterns & Sequencing. I shall definitely be getting some more of these for Ben given the success of the Numbers and Counting set starting with Beginning Phonics and The Alphabet.Hot Dots Jr can be purchased online from Learning Resources or Amazon with sets costing £10.74 and the pen available from £8.34 for the Original to £10.47 for the Hot Dots Jr Ace Talking pen. I also discovered a Hot Dots Jr iPhone / iPad app which will give you a feel for how the sets work and for more information check out the Learning Resources website and Facebook page where you will hear the latest news and make sure you watch out for competitions like this one which is open until the 15th November. I can highly recommend Hot Dots Jr, educational fun that really does help your child develop their early learning skills.
