How Music Affects Workout

Posted on the 21 February 2014 by Genzelkisses

Music plays a major role in motivating people to do workouts.  Whether the workout is physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, music is there to bring these people to a state of readiness for the workout. As what the famous ABBA sang, we should thank music for the songs we are singing and the joys they are bringing. Wow. Because there is music, people are very much alive to perform their respective tasks or workouts.

Music for Physical Workouts

Classical music is the kind of music rooted in the culture of Western music from the 11th century until today, considered the common practice period. The system of staff notation distinguishes European music from non European and popular music, particularly the music by Bach.  Classical music is mostly used in dance workouts like jazz and ballet. This type of workout focuses more on swaying, slides, turning around with partner to align with the tempo of the music. Ballroom dancing is basically using classical music, too.

The music for exercising takes an upbeat timing so the body can move to the direction of the beat. The Park Club a gym in Chiswick West London has fitness professionals that can prescribe music for the desired workout. Before the work out, one can listen to slower inspiring tempo like the pieces marked andante or adagio.  As the work out begins and heart rate increases, one can go on listening to faster-tempo kind of music such as those marked presto or allegro.  Next will be listening to music that jibes with the rhythm of stepping, jogging or whatever workout one is into. This is now considered synchronized workouts.
