How to Rock That Leather Jacket Like a Man and Still Look Like a Woman

Posted on the 15 February 2014 by Genzelkisses

The leather jacket look never really goes out of style, and these days it seems to be more popular than ever. Originally invented as a protective garment, the leather jacket has become an iconic fashion staple. Men and women alike have embraced the leather jacket for its undeniably cool aura.

However, leather jackets are much more than cool. In fact, they are actually versatile enough to dress up or dress down. For instance, you can match your leather jacket with patent leather shoes and accessories or even a leather skirt or dress for a dressy look. Or pair your leather jacket with jeans and a sweater for an easy, casual look. In fact, there is a look that matches leather jackets with nearly every occasion and personality type.

The Girl Next Door

The key to getting the girl next door look right is to start with a leather jacket in a color other than black. Brown will do, but a fashion-forward color such as orange or blue is better. Pair the jacket with a casual pair of pants and a t-shirt that matches or coordinates with the jacket.  Bright red, grass green or sky blue are all excellent choices. A white skirt or slacks will also do. Black pants are also OK your jacket is not orange or yellow. Matching black with orange or yellow may make you look like one of the “Killer Bees” from the classic Saturday Night Live episodes from the 1970s.  Finish the look with a clean pair of trainers or brightly-colored sandals.

Sexy and Alluring

Looking sexy in a leather jacket is almost too easy. Choose any color you like as a substitute for a wrap over a little black dress or a little red dress. For a dressed-down sexy look, choose a slightly-skimpy top and sexy designer jeans. Whether you dress your leather jacket up or down, finish the look with black leather pumps.

Feminine Charm

To conjure up feminine charm while wearing a leather jacket, the rest of your ensemble must be soft or lacy.  Think pastel colors. An eyelet dress in any color you like is an ideal match. Your jacket can also be any color, even black, as long as the styling is not too harsh.  Wear your hair in loose curls or waves and match your shoes with your jacket if possible to lend a sophisticated polish to your ensemble.

Earth Woman Appeal

You make your own jams and jellies and you love working in your garden. All things green and growing make you happy. To match your look with your personality, start with a green or brown leather jacket, not black. Pair it with opaque leggings and a long tunic or short skirt and ankle boots. Another alternative is to wear a jewel colored top and a long matching or print skirt along with your leather jacket and boots or clogs.

Preppy and Proper
