Posted on the 25 September 2013 by Arwinkim

As a Muslim, I think it is very important to know how to type Arabic especially in Word. Therefore, in this tutorial I will be showing you how easy it is to set it up. I am using Windows 8 but any version of Windows doesn’t matter as long as its Control Panel functions properly.

If your Windows doesn’t have Arabic characters installed already, please follow the instructions below.

1. Fire up your Control Panel. Then click Add a Language in the section of Clock, Language, and Region.

2. Click Arabic in the square and then click Open. Or simply double-click it.

3. If you have followed the second step above you will see many version of Arabic languages that you can choose from. However, we will choose Arabic (Saudi Arabia) because most of Arabic language used in the world is from Saudi Arabia. Click it and then click Add or simply double-click it.

4. Congratulation! Arabic (Saudi Arabia) language is now successfully installed.

5. Make sure that Arabic (Saudi Arabia) is already listed in keyboard system on your taskbar. If it’s not, activate it by clicking the ENG icon and choose Arabic (Saudi Arabia) as you can see as following picture below.

5. Fire up your Word. Click Align Right icon because writing Arabic is started from the right.

6. Fire up On-Screen Keyboard to ease you identifying Arabic characters (hijaiyah) on your keyboard.

7. Write something like بسم  الله الر حمن الر حيم
