The year was 2008 I was barely out of college and traveling alone was surely not my thing back then…I used to be a nerd and avoided going to overcrowded places since it overwhelmed me more then I could handle… One major reason behind it was that I hated getting lost on the way and then asking about the routes from complete strangers and weird looking people(no offense) scared me a little!!
So this one time a few close friends of mine planned for a fun shopping spree to Paharganj; given that none of us had visited the place before. Everything was set; date, time and the meeting place but as always I had some last minute things to do on the D-day and I got late :(( I asked my friends to meet me in the market…I was already half an hour late when I boarded the metro running like crazies; I found myself a safe sort of corner place to stand in the overly bursting last compartment of the metro. It was only after 10 minutes that I realized that something was stinking badly around that corner; I looked around and noticed a group of men who seemed like some party union people clad in white kurtas with heavy beards talking nonstop about something…It was a very uncomfortable situation for me as the stink was getting unbearable as they kept shifting towards me with the increasing crowd… I tried not to breathe but I couldn’t hold it any longer…I just lashed out of the metro and trust me I could have fainted if I hadn’t gotten out sooner; I hated those men and I hated that smelly stubble…For me getting out of the metro was such a sigh of relief and a big breath of fresh air!!
