After 3 years of growing, my lemon tree finally started bearing fruits and boy did it fruit! My whole tree was basically lemon from top to bottom. I went out to pick the ripe ones off the tree yesterday afternoon with the Lil' Tiger. She was a brilliant helper and was eager to pick up every fruit. I taught her to pick only the yellow ones and she understood. She picked the ones that were too low for me to get. :)
It was a warm day, so I decided to make Iced Lemon Tea with the lemons that I have. Here is my version with a twist. The extra ingredient cuts out the tartness of the lemon.
Ingredients:
- 4 lemons
- 4 bags of black tea
- 4 tablespoon of sugar (I use Natvia)
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda (the extra ingredient)
- Boiling hot water
- Cold water
- Ice
How to:-
- Boil water in kettle
- In a heat proof jug, add the 4 black tea bags and sugar. Once the water is boiled, pour into jug and mix well. Brew for 2-3 minutes. If you like your tea stronger like me, brew it for 5 minutes.
- Juice the lemons, with a small sieve, pour the juice in to the jug with the tea. Mix well.
- Add baking soda to the tea and lemon mixture. Add slowly as it will start bubbling.
- Add cold water and ice once it has stop bubbling.
Enjoy.
