Inspirational Pickup #3 – TKY

Posted on the 01 August 2013 by Rin @rinkun1691

So far most of my posts have been about fashion and make up and lately traveling. Today, i thought i’d like to share another one of my interest.

That is, Art.

I’ve always enjoyed going to exhibitions and visiting galleries especially in my travels to uncover brilliant works of art. So far, the one exhibition that left me shaking with excitement is the exhibition held at the Western Art Museum in Ueno, Tokyo. I’d forgotten the name of the exhibition, but they featured loads of work from Van Gogh to Claude Monet and even Auguste Rodin. I remember outside the entrance of the museum grounds had displayed Rodin’s “The Gates of Hell”. And also, it was at that particular exhibition that i fell in love with Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies”. What i love about the Water Lilies, was that it was a huge canvas oil painting that hang from almost ceiling height down, and if you were to stand up close to it, the images would look all blurry, and won’t make any sense as though someone had randomly splattered paint onto the canvas. However, if you were to take a step backwards, stand a distance from the painting, you would see distinctively the shades and color blendings that would eventually make out the image of the Water Lilies.

In case you are wondering, this TKY is actually abbreviated from the artist’s name Tam Kwan Kuen. He is, like me Hong Konger, of 28 years old, and is actually an artist that specialises in water color. I’ve been to his art exhibition and i’ve seen his works up close, and i’ve even purchased one of his paintings, depicting the Eiffel Tower which is now hanging beautifully in my room.

I’ve seen this artist boom, from simple strokes of work to what you see below, which are taken from his online gallery, the detailed lines and colours and the effort put in to make the whole scene come alive.

you can visit his site here if you are keen to commission him or to buy his art pieces, and to view his complete online gallery.
