About a week ago, I was able to attend It’s a Brow Date event, an Eyebrow Waxing & Definition Workshop held at Wink Laser & Wax Studio together with Makeup Factory. Ever since I started to explore beauty, I’ve been very much conscious with my eyebrows, the part of the face that I used to not to care about until I was in college. I’ve tried waxing before, bikini and underarms but this is my first time for brow waxing and I was so excited!
I’ve been really curious about Wink ever since I saw them on Sample Room. I wanted to get the voucher but the place is too far from me until that day of the workshop when my mind told me, “You must go!” *laughs*
Wink Laser & Wax Studio
I am very much impressed with Wink. The place is so clean and neat. I must say the cleanest and neatest waxing salon I’ve visited so far. It is that place you would want to keep coming back over and over again. According to their Hygiene Policy they are neat freaks which I really like, I belong!
Each room is as clean as this room where I had my brow waxing galore. They make sure that everything is clean before and after a service is done to a client. They put paper bed sheets which is replaced per customer. NO double dipping – ever! This applies to their spatulas, be it disposable or reusable. All the tools (gloves, mask, table paper, tweezers, and even wax) used are fresh every single time. The room is sanitized before and after a client. They use 100% Natural Cleaners (Messy Bessy).
Now it’s my eyebrows’ turn!
I’ve already trimmed my eyebrows a day before the event so what the technician did is to clean my eyebrows.
After waxing, she plucked the other hairs around my eyebrows. She then put moisturizer on the waxed area.
TADA! See the hairs on the left photo! I was amazed. I know that waxing is expected to be painful but it wasn’t, at all. It was so fast as well that I even asked my technician “So we’re done already?” I still want to spend some time inside the room ^_^
I know you are curious about their wax. They use hard wax. They come in different colors and purpose. That one on the upper right is the pink hard wax for fine hairs. No need to use strips and as you can see, it effectively removes the hairs around my brows.
More about their wax:
Lori Nestore together with notable inventor Christian des Garets. Berodin Waxes are based on patented formulations and are considered as new generation waxes. They are warmed at low heat and applied just above skin temperature, making them gentle and effective. The creamy texture makes it less brittle and sticky than traditional waxes.
The Berodin Wax line consists of the following:
- Our hard wax, the Berodin Blue, is a stripless wax that contains polymers in its formulation that allows flexibility without getting brittle or breaking. It is in temperature, easier to apply and stays flexible as they cool, making them much more comfortable for the client and an ideal choice for removing short, coarse, and stubborn hairs.
- Our soft wax, the Berodin Ease, is a creamy strip wax that is made for speed waxing–it allows large areas to be covered at one time without the fear of setting up or drying too quickly.
- To compliment the waxes, we use pre and post wax accessories like Berodin’s Lavender Lotion to prep and clean the skin, and Berodin’s Jasmine Oil, which creates a protective barrier and prepares the skin for waxing and easy release. It is also used to remove any wax residue on the skin.
We enjoyed these yummy cupcakes and that one on the left (I don’t know what they’re called )
It was so timely that after my brow waxing session, Ms. Liz of Project Vanity started the talk and workshop.
Liz talked about the importance of eyebrows and shared some tips.
Then she invited Holly Chang, the pretty lady behind Wink Laser & Wax Studio. She discussed more about their services.
Now, let the workshop begin with Makeup Factory!
Before Photo – Look at her brows.

In filling in your eyebrows, you might need a lot of brushes. The essentials are (spoolie, eyebrow brush, and foundation brush to sweep off the excess and fall-outs (if there’s any). Then, you must start first with the LIGHT shade may it be pencil or brow powder. It’s easier to darken your eyebrows if you’re not satisfied with it than to make a dark eyebrow look lighter. Most of the time in that case, you will start all over again.
Let me share with you the things that I’ve learned on the workshop.
Our eyebrows tell our age! They can change the entire look depending on their shape. The first one on the illustration above is the ideal shape of eyebrows that almost all of us wants to achieve. The next one shows being young and fresh. You can see that shape mostly with Koreans, hence “Korean eyebrow”. Last shape is something most of us wants to avoid. The shape adds age to the face. However, there are people who look great sporting this shape of eyebrows. The shape in between the eyebrows also matters a lot. Closer eyebrows promote youth and younger-looking face.
The finish look! Her eyebrows are fabulous right? See the photos above for the before shot.
So happy to finally meet these gorgeous ladies! The day before this event, I was supposed to join Shari of The Misty Mom for her hair color session at Sofitel but due to sched conflicts I wasn’t able to come. Alas, we meet here! Yay!
