J. Lynne is my pen name and also my real name. The ‘J’ stands for Jennifer and Lynne is my middle name.
Please share some of the best memories of your childhood I loved spending time at my grandparent’s house. They had a large house that I could wander about in or play hide-n-seek with my aunt. There was a manmade pond in the back yard where I would catch frogs for hours. I could take a walk in the fields or the woods (but not too far). My grandmother would almost always make us macaroni and cheese for lunch and Rice Krispies treats for a snack later on.

About your education?
After graduating high school, I went to a four-year private college for Biology, but after two years I decided it wasn’t what I wanted. Unfortunately, I did not receive an Associate’s degree in Biology as they did not offer that option. I continued my education in the Computer Science field and received my B.S. with a concentration in Computer Game Programming.

What career did you plan during your education days? First, I wanted to be a veterinarian but found it too difficult to dissect animals. I had taken a couple of computer classes and found that interesting. Growing up, I played video games so the next step to me was programming my own games. The writing was always something I loved doing, but I never thought I could make a career out of it. What languages you can speak and write? In high school, I opted to take American Sign Language as my second language. I remember the alphabet fairly well and even some signs, but I cannot recall the sentence structure well enough.

What hurts you most in this world?
Those in this world that choose to have hate in their heart towards others. No one should be hated because of their sexuality, gender, race, etc.J. Lynne – Author Interview
What is the biggest challenge you have faced? How did you overcome it? My biggest challenge has been my own self-doubt. I told myself for years not to try this or that. Don’t try out for the basketball team—you’ll fail. Don’t pick up that pen—you’ll only write nonsense. I’ve had to block out these messages that my head produces and pushed past them. I tried out for that basketball team. Did I make the team? No, but I tried. I picked up that pen and got back to writing. Have I made writing my career? No, but I keep writing. You just have to keep trying! What is your favorite genre and why? I really enjoy horror. I love building tension and the fear of the unknown. What’s behind that door or hiding in the darkness? I need to know! Though, I am not a fan of graphic violence or needless gore. But I, of course, enjoy other genres but horror is my top.
When did you start writing? What is the purpose of your writing?
I started writing as a child. It was a great coping tool. My friend and I got together in fifth grade to write a spooky play. That was a lot of fun! Writing for me is a great tool in sharing what’s in my head.J. Lynne – Author Interview

What genres you write in and why?
I dabble in the horror subgenres. I like to explore the unknown and scary aspects of life. This is where you’ll find my stories. What keeps you motivating towards writing? It definitely isn’t fame and fortune! I have stories spinning in my head that must come out. Not a single person may read my story or perhaps only ten, but they are yearning to come to life on paper. It’s also fun to share my writing with my friends/family and get their feedback. What is generally your preference in reading – a paper book or ebook? And why?
I have many eBooks and paperbacks. I like reading kindle books because it’s clutter free. And I like reading print books because I don’t have to strain my eyes using my computer or cell phone. I think I prefer kindle when the books are short and a print copy if they are longer.How much real life goes into a fiction writing? There is always something from my real life in my writing. It may be so stretched beyond belief that it is no longer recognizable to anyone who may know me. But there is always something in there that I hold dear.
Is a high level of imagination important to have for an Author?
I think it is. You have to transport yourself into this world you’re creating in order for a reader to believe what they are reading. You want them to be so immersed that it takes them into another dimension that they wish they could exist in with the characters. Without great imagination, this would be difficult.J. I just finished Cogling by Jordan Elizabeth and am currently reading The Deception People by Real Laplaine. Your favorite book and why? This is a hard question. I have read Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky several times. I don’t think I’ve read another book as many times. Maybe that makes it my favorite?Your favorite movie and why? Another hard question. I love the Jurassic Park movies. I used to fall asleep to the first movie as the Raptor was ripping the man apart. The man vs. beast is a great story. Nature always wins.
Your favorite food?
I’m a sucker for a good, greasy cheese pizza.The first thing you do in the morning after waking up?
Cuddle with my two cats: Grace and Pixie. They are my fur babies.The last thing to do before sleep?
