Know the Proper Feminine Hygiene with naFlora

Posted on the 14 October 2014 by Genzelkisses

Sometimes, it is really hard for us girls to discuss things when it comes to our femininity and hygiene. There are a lot of rules (dos and don’ts) taught to us by our mothers and grandmothers. The thing that we must know is, the truth behind those myths that we used to believe in. So when I got an invite to naFlora event, I got so excited to know a lot of things especially on how to properly take care of our flora down there and of course, I’ll be sharing with you the things I’ve learned.

Every woman is unique. Her feminine wash should be too.

Honestly, when my mom is still here in the country, we used to have the same feminine wash so we’ll just buy that big bottle of fem wash for us both. And during the event, it’s just then that I realized, “Oh shoot! Why me and my mom are using the same feminine wash?” FYI guys, my mom is in her menopausal stage already and I’m only on my early 20’s back then. See the age gap?

Let’s discuss more about this as we go on this post. I’m gonna share with you first some snippets from the event.

Our Host for the day, Ms. Ina Ongsiako

After the introduction part, we started the day with a fun game! It’s like Pinoy Henyo but everything is related to the feminine hygiene.

After that, Ms.  Nelia S. Lopez talked about naFlora and the company behind the product.

Then we had a fun and very knowledgeable talk with Dra. Lourder Escobar, our OB-GYNecologist, who discussed everything we should know about our flora.

Each of us has different needs especially when it comes to proper care for our intimate area. Women experience different stages as we age. We experience adolescence, menstrual cycle, pregnancy, then finally menopausal phase. And as we go through those stages, our vagina also changes. We have good and bad bacteria inside it and what we must look out for is to avoid the bad bacteria taking over the good ones because that means we’ll be experiencing discomfort and vaginal infections.

What are the symptoms of vaginal infections? Abnormal discharge, not so good smell, pain, burning sensation, and itching.

Importance of Normal pH

Normal pH keeps infections away and it ranges from 3.8 – 4.5. The normal acidity level of the vagina keeps it healthy and preserves the balance of the good and bad bacteria present in it. To do this, we must use the right feminine wash specific to our age.

Here are the tips that I’ve learned:

✔ Change pantyliner every 4 hours
✔ Sanitary Napkin should be changed every 2 hours. Bad bacteria live in moist area.
✔ Don’t douche, it doesn’t protect or prevent pregnancy.
✔ Don’t use scented liners/napkins. Fragrance kills lactobacillus.
✔ For sexually active women, wash before and after then get a papsmear at least 1 or 2 per year.
✔ For those who are not active, you can still visit gynecologist every 6 months.
✔ Don’t use tight underwear especially when you have your period.

Some Myths:

ⓘ It’s okay to take a bath even with period or after pregnancy.
ⓘ Don’t use vinegar or guava leaves for washing your intimate area.

Proper washing of the vagina:

The holes (our vagina, urether, and anus) are all in one line. To properly wash your intimate area, wash it from top to bottom (anus).

Here I’m going to run down feminine wash that you should use depending on your needs.

NaFlora Feminine Wash - Protect - Genzel Kisses (c)

naFlora protect – For monthly period and everyday use (Women of reproductive age)

This is the feminine wash perfect for our age. So women of reproductive age is technically us women who are capable of conceiving a child. For the day of your first period, you can use this as a daily feminine wash. We normally have vaginal discharge and it’s the natural way of cleaning and maintaining our vaginal pH. Whenever we have a menstruation, our vagina tends to be less acidic and we need to balance the acid to get rid of bacteria, irritation and infection. naFlora protect has tea tree extract and lactic acid, both have antimicrobial properties to protect us from irritations and infections. So if we are on the same age, this is what you should use. It is my daily feminine wash.

NaFlora Feminine Wash - Restore - Genzel Kisses (c)

If you just gave birth or recovering from a vaginal infection, naFlora restore is the one for you. This is the time when our vaginal pH level and acidity are not normal therefore we are prone to further irritation and infection. After giving birth, the vagina is of course painful and swelling and you need to take extra care to avoid infections.

naFlora restore, form the word itself, will restore or bring back the natural acidity and pH level of the vagina. It has an anti-bacterial ingredient called Cetyl Pyridinium Chloride that will help and take care of your surgical incisions after you have given birth. You can use naFlora restore together with your prescribed antibacterial medicines.

NaFlora Feminine Wash - Moisture - Genzel Kisses (c)

naFlora moisture – Recommended for women of menopause

So let me share with you something about my mom. She has changed a little with her attitude and physical appearance and I am absolutely right that she is on her way to menopausal stage because I have read books and information online about this. One of the reasons is, her estrogen levels decrease. We’re super close so she shares info with me even with her you know, private part. And as a daughter I do my best to help her with what I know because she’s aware that I’m a beauty blogger and I know more about this than her. She told me that hers is starting to become dry and she’s having this unpleasant discharge most of the time. Again, because she is lacking estrogen. She experience itching and burning as well. I told her never to scratch it or anything because it will cause soreness and it’ll become drier that she might get infections.

Now I recommended this naFlora moisture to her. This is the feminine wash for menopausal women or mature women who experience the things I mentioned above. It has lactic acid, chamomile extract, and moisturizers to help with irritation, itching, and dryness. If you’re in the stage same as my mom, I suggest to use this daily to protect your vagina from bacteria and fungi that cause irritations and infections.

There you go my dear female readers. If there’s a guy reading this, please share this important information to your friends, girl friend, moms, and relatives. Now you know what’s the right feminine wash that you should use. If you’re a woman of my age, we must use naFlora protect. If you’ve just given birth or healed from infection, you should use naFlora restore. For women of menopause (I will gave this to my beloved mother), you should use naFlora moisture.

See, there’s a specific care for women with specific needs. naFlora feminine washes are moisturizing, hypoallergenic. I remember when I posted a sneak peek about the event and mentioned naFlora, some of my friends on Facebook commented that it’s prescribed by their ob-gyne / physician and it’s their favorite feminine wash.
