Kose Cosmagic Lock On Brow Review

Posted on the 13 June 2013 by Ileodarod @ilevillegas
Confession: I'm a brow noob.
The one and only brow pencil I have is the Ever Bilena Brow Pencil that I only use on other people and never on myself because I have very thick brows. Call me thick-skinned but I honestly thought my brows need no further grooming other than plucking. Once in a while I entertain the idea of buying an everyday brow pencil just for the sake and I have been eyeing Etude House's Drawing Eyebrow but thrifty me always back out.
Then my life changed when I won Kose Cosmagic Lock On Brow(along with other Cosmagic stuff) from Jen's give-away.

I'm not that much of a sucker for cute packaging. But I gotta admit, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the packaging of Cosmagic Cosmetics. They're all sparkly and pink and reminds me of Sailor Moon! You'll see what I mean if you take at the rest of the stuff I won. The Cosmagic Lock On Brow is no exception. There's so much stuff written in it, how I wish I can read Japanese. It even has an eyebrow stencil.

Don't you just wish you can understand what it says?

Despite the extravagant packaging, the product itself is quite simple.

Only 0.3g of product but I've been using this a lot for months now and I'm not even half-way through.

Kose Cosmagic Lock On Brow is a retractable eyebrow pencil that has a slightly angled rectangular tip. I wish I was able to photograph this better. I kinda wish too that it was gray instead of brown because I have very dark brows.
Kose Cosmagic Lock On Brow ReviewLeft: Swatched 3 times. Right: Swatched once.
Kose Cosmagic Lock On Brow is not pigmented at all. For a while I was wondering if this is a good thing or not, or if the product has already dried out. I later realized that because it isn't so pigmented, it's actually easier to work with. The final outcome is very natural. And I can build it up if I want too.
Texture, Smell and Longevity:It has no noticeable smell that you have to worry about. It's a bit waxy so it really sticks to your brows and lasts the whole day. Unfortunately, it isn't waterproof. It might get rubbed off if you sweat too much. And because you only need so little of the product whenever you use it, it'll definitely last a long time.

Disclaimer: I haven't learned trimming my brows yet when I took this picture. Now that I finally did learn to trim my brows(but got too lazy to retake these pictures again. Sorry), it's easier to apply the product and the outcome looks more natural too.

Up close, I find the brown color a bit unnatural on my brows, but from afar, it looks much better. Also it looks gray from afar. Not just on me but also when I had somebody else use it. I have no idea why.

What I like about it: Retractable eyebrow pencil doesn't need sharpeningLightly pigmentedLasts the whole day if you don't sweat much Creates natural looking browsNo smell, not stickyVery very cute packaging
What I don't like:Not available in the PhilippinesExpensive (Not sure exactly how much though)
Recommend?I strongly recommend this especially to beginners and girls with thick brows like mine
Repurchase? No as it's not available in the Philippines.
Kose Cosmagic Lock On Brow ReviewEyebrow pencil, eyeshadow and eyeliner only. Dunno if you noticed. But this is the full look for this review and this review.
I also used this on a model (yeah, yeah, yeah funshoot attempt again) with sparse brows and it actually looked good(my standards, at least)! I achieved the effect that I wanted, which is light but thick, masculine brows.

Or didn't I?
What do you think?
P.S. I noticed that shaping the brows is one of the things that you can do when doing make-up for guys. Can you guys suggest any other make-up trick that would look good on guys?
Thanks for reading!
