Let There Be Light! Shu Uemura The Lightbulb Fluid Foundation

Posted on the 18 July 2014 by Genzelkisses

Doing this post in my iPad because we’re still surviving for 3 days without power and water in our area. So I’ll be editing the format of this when my laptop is back. Anyway, I got this foundation from my BDJ Box Luxe – Shu Uemura Exclusive last month. Great timing since I’m slowly transitioning from BB creams to foundations. When I saw this in the box, remember the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders (mine will be arriving soon yey!). Shu Uemura The Lightbulb, will this literally give me that effect? Let’s see!

Description:

Achieve beautiful, glowing skin and high coverage with the Lightbulb Fluid foundation.

Its multi-glow oil complex signals a new way forward for a natural finish, while providing long-lasting moisture up to 12 hours. It’s non-comedogenic, making it suitable for all skin types.

I got the 744 (moderate beige) shade. This is one of the concerns with subscription boxes, wishing the shade will perfectly match your skin tone, if it doesn’t, you can always share the products to friends and relatives but it’ll be more fun if it matches yours right? :D

This product is made in Japan. I am always impressed with Japanese makeups and products that I’ve tried before so I have high hopes for this one. I don’t have a lot of foundations compared to BB creams and if this works, I will celebrate!

It has a nice pump that gives just the right amount of product so you can control your usage. 1-2 pumps are good for one layer. If you aim for better coverage, you can go with 4-5 pumps including the neck area. It has a really nice skincare scent that I really like. I tried this foundation on my cousin and she liked the scent too!

Swatches. This is just one pump. I have a huge faith that I have warm undertone so I am good with yellowish powders and liquid makeups. When I try pinkish tones, I look grayish so yeah, yellow is the color for me, I guess.

Texture & Coverage. It’s not so creamy for me, more on liquid-y that makes it easier to blend. It gives a sheer/light – medium coverage. It covers some of my blemishes but if you have severe dark spots, under eyes, and bumps, you still need a color corrector or concealer. I apply two layers whenever I use this foundation, then I conceal my under eye area.

I like the medium coverage since I don’t have much blemishes to cover but I find it a bit darker on me. I use a lighter shade of finishing powder to somehow balance the color. It does give a glowy/dewy effect that makes my skin look healthy. However, my concern is the oil control. I have combination to oily skin and I understand that some products just can’t bear my oiliness lol. After 1-2 hours, I have to blot the oil on my T-Zone area, then repeat blotting when I can see traces of oil again.

Overall. It’s a nice foundation that I think will work better if you have normal to combi-dry skin condition. It does give glow, medium coverage, and comfort but if we have the same combi-oily skin, then you have to arm yourself with a blotting paper after 1-2 hours.

Have you tried this foundation? Any suggestion for combi-oily skin?
