We who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. — 1 Thessalonians 4:17
I didn’t want to begin the week with a heavy post. But it seems this has been the message of the universe to me for the past couple of days.
A week ago, the Philippines lost an important person in the government to a plane crash in Masbate City. This left the entire nation mourning for God took away the life of a dedicated government official far too soon… At the age of 54… at the height of his career. I was stunned after hearing the news. Just like any form of accident, this was totally unexpected. Who would’ve thought that a few hours after delivering a speech on behalf of the President in Cebu, such tragedy would happen, Claiming his life and that of two others (the pilot’s and co-pilot’s)?
Saturday night, I received a message on facebook from my cousin relating her brother-in-law’s (her sister’s husband’s) passing. He was undergoing dialysis treatment for years, but he succumbed to kidney disease this weekend. I recall… Eight years ago, I was one of the bride’s maids in their wedding. I saw him crying tears of joy even before the wedding ceremony started. Last Saturday, he breathed his last.
These remind me of life’s temporal nature. That we are nothing else but travelers, and not permanent inhabitants of this world. That in reality, we are spirits temporarily dwelling in our fragile earthly bodies. Someday, all of these will come to an end… And we will be taken to a different place…
A much better place.
A blessed Monday. :-)
