I've always been a fan of the no-makeup-makeup look. It's the easiest way to trick people into thinking that you're an effortless beauty.
Achieving the look is no rocket-science too, just simple arithmetic. Foundation + eyebrow pencil + cheek tint + tinted lipbalm + mascara = no-makeup-makeup look.
Until ... I discovered the art of highlighting.
I know a lot of girls fond of contouring. After all, it does great wonders on your face. Unfortunately for me, I can't seem to get it right. The bronzer just tends to look dirty on my face. I did try with my ELF Studio bronzing powder but the problem is on my face shape, which is semi-round, semi-oval. Instead of high cheek bones, bronzing tends to give me sunken cheeks.
Highlighting on the other hand, makes me look healthier.
So I'm glad I came by a highlighter that worked for me.Lioele Silky Highlighter BB Touch
A soft, liquid - pearl highlighter BB CREAM. This sheer, light-reflecting formula glides on smoothly for a breathtaking luminous complexion. Silky Highlighter BB Touch brush makes application a breeze, illuminating as it covers. With its new - generation, hydra-smoothing hyaluronic acid microspheres that blend into the skin tissues, expanding with water to recreate volume.
I totally ignored the description actually until I had to type it down now. But now that I think about it, the idea that it "expands with water to recreate volume" is kinda creepy so I'm going to go on ignoring that.
Lioele Silky Highlighter BB Touch is so pink!
Appearance and CoverageIt is slightly lighter than my complexion, which is how a highlighter should be. It also has a sheer to medium coverage which helps conceal a little. However, the formula is what's more interesting. It appears to have very small shimmers that are only visible up close and are barely visible in pictures as you can see on the picture below. I find that it does well in softly reflecting(refracting?) light, without appearing oily or greasy, hence doing it's job as a highlighter. For noobs(like me), it's that light-reflecting property that differentiates a liquid highlighter from a concealer or a foundation. While the last two aims to conceal, the highlighter aims to add dimension and it accomplishes it through this trait.
LongevityIt lasts the whole day. Moreover, the shimmers aren't easily washed off by water instantly. It's not exactly waterproof though, but probably sweat-proof.I wore this when I was walking downtown once and by the end of the day, I was still looking good (or so I think).
Smell and ConsistencyLioele Silky Highlighter BB Touch has a typical make-up smell that almost seem like plastic but is only slightly noticeable. Consistency is runny, which is best for the kind of packaging this product has.
PackagingTo start with, it's really pink with a logo that looks like Cinderella's Magic Pumpkin Carriage. Most notable however is the brush at the top. You pump the bottom and out comes the product through the brush. The pump poses a problem if you want to carry this with you when you travel. Nothing protects it from being pushed accidentally.
You can also disassemble the whole thing whenever you want to clean the brush, or if you don't want to use the brush.I was initially set on not using the brush. But I grew to love it. It is soft, dense, doesn't shed and the shape is just right.
Price20ml of product costs P995 at lioeleph.com.I have to admit, it's a bit pricey. But I think 20ml of product is going to last for a long time.

Now let me show you how I use this highlighter.
How you highlight depends on your face shape. I think my face appears "too crowded", if you get what I mean. So I focus highlighting on the insides, to create the illusion of more space and also to add dimension. I look like a titan from Shingeki no Kyojin
This is where I typically apply the highlighter. The most important part are the inverted triangles underneath my eyes.
during application. not blended yet.
After using the brush, I blend everything with my fingers.
And viola! I'm done.
The effect is really subtle but to me it makes a nice improvement. My cheeks seems higher and wider. My nose bridge is slightly more defined now.I don't like contouring my nose so I've gone fond with highlighting the bridge instead.
Here's a side by side comparison.
My face after highlighting seem to have more defined features and a slightly healthier complexion.
To complete the no-makeup-makeup look, I just used my Lioele cheek and lip tint(which I'm also going to review soon).
As you can see, I don't really have perfect skin. But with the right cosmetics and a few highlighting techniques up my sleeves, it's possible to achieve that polished but realistic look.
