** Photos from our trip to Baguio last May ** Nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives. — Ecclesiastes 3:12
I am certainly not a fan of the rainy season. What with super typhoons that hit the Philippines… Heart-wrenching news of deaths due to landslides in some areas… Wading in floodwaters… And how it forbids me to take photos outdoors…
But yes, I confess… Sometimes I find the rain magical. And behind gray clouds hides some mystique— Endearing and yet to be revealed.
But… When everyday all I see and hear is a heavy downpour… The magic inevitably wears out. And gray skies scream melancholy to me— It’s just so sickening.
However, if you look into some of my posts… You’ll discover how much I whined about summer… The sweltering heat that makes every movement uncomfortable… The annoying feeling of bathing in my own sweat… The propensity to thirst and to heat stroke.
How I begged for the rain to pour down from the heavens… To temporarily cool down this part of the planet… This side of the earth burning from the sun’s raging rays.
From a human being’s perpetual discontent… Sun and rain… Please meet halfway.
Life teaches me a different lesson, nonetheless…
Just as the winter turns to spring,
Our lives have changing seasons too;
So when a gloomy forecast comes,
Remember—God has plans for you. — Sper (Our Daily Bread)
