Lucky Stars...

Dreamy So worth it...

This week, I had one of those reality check type thing you get every once in a while. This reality check was a huge jolt to me.

It was the end of the month and to accounts and people who do work that requires billings, it means that it's crunch time and this usually means that I have to stay back later than usual to finish what I have to do. Usually this will be met by sighs and complains but not that day.

I was called down to reception by one of my colleagues. He said that there was a guy at the front looking to clean our windows. I came down stairs thinking that it would be one of those corporate professional cleaners looking to see if we could give them some business. Alas it was not. What I was confronted with shook me right down to my core.

What I saw was a dishevelled man on the verge of crying. What I saw was a man who was desperate enough to go around the neighbourhood asking if he could clean people's windows just to feed his family. What I saw was an image that I would remember every time I complained about work.

These days, people are made redundant because businesses can no longer stay afloat. Work is being sent overseas or better and bigger companies have taken over small businesses. I can not comment about how people run their businesses or how the world of economics run, so I won't.

What I will say is, I AM SUPER LUCKY TO HAVE A JOB. It may not pay much but I am lucky that it helps pay for our house, car and put food on our table.

I went left work at 7pm that night. I did not complain once or sigh. All I could think of was that there is a little girl tucked safely and warmly in bed that night and she is waiting for me to come home to give her a kiss and a cuddle good night.

And for that, I am grateful that I do have a job.
