My Ultimate Love – Urban Decay Naked Basics

Posted on the 28 June 2014 by Genzelkisses

I’ve been always been in love with neutrals. I think most of us do. Not only that they are the safe colors to use but that they can go well with different makeup looks and outfits, plus I’m still slow getting into playing with colors and studying the color wheel. Oh well, I should be back in high school. LOL.

This is currently my most and ever favorite eyeshadow palette. My first Urban Decay palette that I won from Yettezkiedoodle‘s Giveaway. Thank you so much Yette!  I have included this on my last month’s happy list but I’ve actually grown my love for it ever since.

My Ultimate Love – Urban Decay Naked Basics

Urban Decay Naked Basics

I once tried Naked 1 but I’m not sure why I didn’t appreciate it as much as I do with Naked Basics, maybe because it’s not actually my own palette. Urban Decay Naked Basics, being my first UD palette, got me so impressed with its quality. Now I know what the fuzz is all about. Why almost every woman I know have an Urban Decay Naked palette or at least desires to have one. I was actually willing to buy this but then, I feel so thankful that I got it for free! Yeah, I lucky girl!

Packaging

Of course, first thing you’ll notice is the packaging. The box and the palette itself has this velvet rubber sort of packaging but it’s very easy to clean. The texture of the packaging plus the very minimalistic design scream class and luxe. I just find it a bit hard to open the first time that it damaged my newly painted nails.

It has 6 shades in full size, similar to other Naked palettes. 6 Shades, 1.3 grams each. This can definitely last you months even if you use it on a daily basis because it’s very pigmented that a light swipe goes a long… long way.

I don’t have any of the Naked 1 – 3 palettes yet (I’m planning to get Naked 3 tho), so I can’t compare it to those palettes yet but I’m pretty sure there are similar shades in between.

The Colors

1. Venus – I always use this on my brow bone and bridge of my nose for highlight. It’s a creamy white shadow with micro-shimmers, almost frosty except that frost finish is more shiny for me.

2. Foxy – Yellowish shade in matte finish. I always use this as base for my eye makeup.

3. W.O.S (Walk of Shame) – very light pink that can also be used for highlighting or to brighten the eyes by putting some at the center of your lid like a finishing touch.

3. Naked 2 – a soft brown color in matte finish as well. I also use this for contouring my nose.

4. Faint – the shade that I always use on the crease of my eyes for open style eyeshadow and on my other V for close style eyeshadow. It’s a dark brown color in matte finish.

5. Crave – Super pigmented black eyeshadow that can also be used for lining. Wet your eyeliner brush a little to create that nice blackest black eyeliner or apply it with dry brush and smudge for smokey effect.

Texture and Pigmentation

Creamy, buttery-soft eyeshadows that truly blown me away. The swatches on top has no eye primer underneath so imagine, what more if I put eye primer first? The colors will surely pop up.

Longevity

These don’t crease on me the whole time I’m wearing it. The colors last on me the whole day. They kinda fade a bit after 5 hours or so but you can still distinguish the color.

Tips and Recommendation

✿ Use eye primer to have more pop of color.
It’s a must-have eyeshadow palette guys! I swear by it. If you’re a fan of neutral shades then you should have this. Even if not, it’s great product that you may want to get for your simple or natural makeup look.

Overall

5kisses

I am head over heels in love with this palette that I barely touch my other palettes. Remember I bought the EM Love Me palette? I haven’t touched it until now haha but I should soon so I can share my thoughts about it. My only concern about this palette is the price. It ranges around P1,500 – 1,700 online. And oh! it’s not available locally so you have to get this on online shops or their website. I think they also have this in Sephora. I’m telling you, it’s freakin’ worth your moolah.

PS.
I’m playing with my review formats. My past ones are great but I think I’m getting redundant with the review summary section since I’ve said everything on there in the body of the post already. Please do let me know if you like this way of reviewing products for you guys, of course your feedback matters to me a lot ;) Thankies!

What Naked Palette do you own? Are you also in love with them?
I’m planning to get Naked 3 but not soon. :)
