First impression are good, right? Not bad, not bad at all.

Too bad our stand wasn’t in that area!

But the group did well setting up (and taking down the stand). Thank you :]

MY STAND

Let me introduce you to Henney, she’s having the time of her life looking out at the (imaginary) sunset.

HAK NAM HENNEY BOARDS :]

In all honestly, I think our group wanted more individualism. I think I did the best I could with the board templates. I thought it would be more eye-catching to have the lineart on one board and final stills on the other. The orange/yellow banners were a last minute addition but I think they work well.

So much so, I can’t tell where my hair ends and the boards start #chameleonhair #wtf.

MY ANIMATION

Okay, now if I were walking around an exhibition scouting for graduates, or just casually looking, I wouldn’t want to pick up copious amounts of DVD cases. ‘I wanted to be different’. Sigh, that sounds a little pretentious but that was basically my thought process. Folded cases are lighter than DVD cases and they take up less room. Plus they were really fun to design!

SHOWREELS FOR THE INDUSTRY

CUTE, NO?

I ended up ordering 250 business cards and within that I had around 10 styles and two different sizes – mini cards and full-sized cards.

The mini cards were my favourite, they were really cute and just the right size to jazz up.

I decided to order more and turn them into ‘bookmarks or something’ by attaching some string and gems. I’m not the first to do this and I won’t be the last, but I think they went down well!

I ended up tying around 90 business cards. Lets just say I got it down to under 2 minutes per card. Who doesn’t want a creepy girls face staring back at them everytime they open their book? xD

OUR TABLE OF GOODIES

Like what you see from our stand? Let me know! I’ll put you in contact with the group. We are all looking for the next stepping stone in life and a little commission on the side or even an internship can’t hurt.

SCREENING PRIZE NOMINEES

All graduates had the opportunity to submit a short animation, film, etc., for the ‘screening award’. Long story short, my work got shortlisted and the waiting began.

I wrote more about it here: (update 13) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1353711434/fmp-animation-short-for-degree/posts

ME IN THE ‘SCREENING ROOM’..

I honestly was not surprised by the winners, who by the way were very well deserved. Both from ‘that stand’ with the better position, more ‘quirky and arty’ set-up and with its own screening area. I really liked their business cards too! But I didn’t want to waste any by taking them. I thought it was refreshing to see an animation group who all showcases very strong talents. Also, 2-D won the judges vote, that can never be a bad thing!

I feel very humbled that one of the judges in particular showed a real interest in my work. You could tell they already knew their winner in advance (before visiting us) but having a complete stranger, who happens to be in the industry, give you a thumbs up – well I’ll take it.

I won’t forget the first time I saw ‘Hak Nam Henney’ written on the voting board.  I was more excited to see Henney’s name than my own!

Little Henney has grown up! o(╥﹏╥)o

WINNER FROM PART 1! LOVE THIS STYLE OF PAINTING

I’d also like to thank my partner in crime, Amyyyyyy.
We decided to club together and stay in London for the duration of the exhibition. I had so much fun and quickly learnt how to top up my Osyter card (haha).

Oh, and I can’t stop thinking about Wagamama’s Yasai Cha Han..

Thank you to my family for helping out and to Abby and Webby for visiting on the Friday!
