Olympics Review

Posted on the 28 July 2012 by Lifeofasportswife @jessaolson
This may shock people but I have never really got into the Olympics. Last year was pretty cool to watch because of Phelps. I watched some of the gymnastics because of home town favorite, Shawn Johnson, was preforming.
This year I am excited because it is in London. I have always loved London and anything royal family. I hope one day we can go there to visit.
I was on twitter this afternoon and heard some of the spoilers but I didn't think they were that bad. I was pretty excited to come home and watch the Opening Night.
The night started off with the Voice of Angels choir. The started in the Olympic stadium then around the 4 isles. Next phase was through the Revolutionary Era. This whole beginning was a little weird for me personally but I also can't take my eyes away either.
Onward to the Industrial Revolution. The whole time I am thinking this is amazing and how's the track and field going to race here next week.
People have been talking about it's not going to like Beijing. Nothing can compare to that. You're right. Their history is different from anyone else's. That's what makes us all unique, right? So me personally I wouldn't want to see Beijing's allover again.
I loved seeing all the rings coming together and the sparks afterwards. The colors were absolutely beautiful. The "circus" theme was fun too.
Royalty
At first I was uncertain on what was happening then I saw James Bond and the Queen. My only criticism would be how slow everything seemed to be moving. I wish it would have been a little faster and more obvious points. I guess the director wanted to make sure think a little bit.
Every time I see the Queen she is so proper and put together. I wonder what she is like behind closed doors. I wonder if she is extremely funny. The announcers said she has a "wicked sense of humor." I think it would be amazing to talk with her.
Yes, I am like most ladies my age and LOVE Prince William and Princess Kate. I love Kate's style. Plus, we share the same wedding date as William and Kate.
Beds
I am a little confused with the beds. I have to admit that I am switching channels back and forth. What is the point in this? All this characters coming alive in the "child's" nightmare is a little weird. I have never thought about it before but most children's villains come from British Literature.
Who comes to the rescue? No other than Mary Poppins! I loved this part! I love Mary Poppins! She is amazing. I didn't see that coming. I think I may have died!
Digital Era
This era was amazing to see because we are still in it. I loved hearing all the music. I loved most of the music but I am VERY disappointed they didn't play the Spice Girls. I friend told me they will play at the closing ceremonies. They better!
Parade of Nations
Greece goes first, host company goes last. Everything in the middle is alphabetical order. I learned so much about some of the countries. It was fun to watch all the countries walk in. At first it was pretty cool, but after a while it got boring.
Interesting Facts:
This is the 3 time London has had the Olympics in their city: 1908, 1948 & 2012.
Red Lilly: a sign of remembrance. I didn't know that. I loved this part of the performance.
In Finland tickets are based on income.
I couldn't watch anymore of the Parade Of Nations. I hope you have enjoyed my part of the Olympic Opening Night. I missed the last half, but I hope you can forgive me. We have a busy day tomorrow.
