My word this year is Begin.
In May I will begin...
-~Making plans for a weekend camping trip or getaway

Because I just started a new job, I don't have much time off accrued yet. But we'd still like to try and get away a couple of weekends this summer. Every year we say we want to go camping and then we just never get around to planning the trip. Making it happen this year.
~Searching for a place to take my sewing machine in for repairs

I had my mom look at my sewing machine to see if she could fix the tension on it. But we both agree it's not something that either of us can fix. I've had it for about 10 years so it's also time to take it in for routine maintenance and cleaning. I have several sewing plans for the summer so I want to get it in for repairs as soon as possible.

~Choosing a general practitioner and scheduling an appointment for a physical and blood tests.

In high school I started having spells/blackouts (I don't really even know how to explain them, but they're horrible.) My mom took me to her neurologist who concluded that I probably had epilepsy- although my tests came back not showing any unusual brain patterns. In my early twenties I went to another neurologist who concluded that I wasn't having seizures and said that it was most likely anxiety attacks. Anyway- it's been about ten years since I had any kind of 'spell' and then at the beginning of this month they came back out of the blue- in full force. I've had them consistently all month long at about the same time each day. The first time it happened, it took me completely off guard. It had been years since I'd felt that. I called Andy crying and he took the day off work to stay with me because I was a little freaked out.
I've talked to my mom, who has had very bad grand mal seizures in the past, to see what she thought. Most times the episodes had been happening in the morning. She asked if I'd had breakfast and then later Andy asked if I'd been drinking any water during the day. My answer to both questions was no. Because there is a history of diabetes in my family, I have started to wonder if these spells are at all related to my blood sugar levels or even just my general nutritional health. I want to have a doctor make sure that I'm getting enough nutrients/vitamins in my diet on a daily basis. If we have to go back to the epilepsy diagnosis then so be it. I just want all my ground covered. It is very scary and one of the reasons I haven't been too consistent with the blog lately. My mornings have been spent trying to get through these stupid episodes.
**I have high hopes for May. We'll be getting our garden in finally and hopefully getting outside more. This week I've been working the day shift as we have shortened hours for break week at the school. Next week I'll move to summer hours and be working 2-8pm. I'm looking forward to that, as I'll have my mornings free again to get projects done. I really don't like working during the day because then I'm too tired to accomplish much of anything in the evening. I much prefer my night shifts.
