Welcome to SE17 or has many people know the area the Elephant and Castle where in Penton Place I found these rather huge concrete bollards (top) that protect a site that used to be home of a public house called the Giraffe.
This part of London has nearly always been a proud inner city working class area of the capital. The area took a hit when many of the locals lost well paid work in the print/Fleet Street however the Elephant and Castle is under going major change and this in the end can only be good for residents and the local economy.
Can I say a special thank you to @CharlesYap on the twitter who recently left our shores and headed off to Singapore and sent us this wonderful photograph of some pavement bollards (above) in the Sembawang district of Singapore. Bollards aren't just a London or British thing they are global and this is a great #guestbollard for the blog/site.
