Picking Bones: Juniors Part 1...

Posted on the 26 July 2012 by Felicakes @felicakes

I usually try not to rant on the blog. It is just not my style anymore, but this I don't think I can keep it longer anymore and would like to share my thoughts and maybe teach the younger generation a thing or two about responsibility.

I am no expert on the subject but I am old enough to shed some light on the younger generation entering or will be entering the work force. I have been working since I was 15 years old and never have I once take it for granted. Earning my own money is an important thing for me and my parents taught me the importance of having a strong work ethic. I have worked from the bottom up to where I am at at the moment. I have done the shit jobs that I need to in order to say "Yes, I have experienced that". If that doesn't make me an expert, then maybe you should not continue reading.

Now we have that out of the way, here comes my rant.... and owh yes... this is only part 1.

How is it that every JUNIOR that the company that I work for never seem to either take their jobs seriously OR take things for granted? At my first professional job, I hired a junior to take over my reception and admin job and she only lasted 6 months, but in that six month, she has manage to take more time off than coming into work. Every week there is a text message saying that she is sick or unable to come in. URGH. Safe to say she only last 6 months because we were STRESSING her out and she didn't like the other firm that we were sharing our office with. FINE.

The my second professional job that I had, which I came back after maternity leave and where I was there for 8 months, we went through 3 juniors! THREE! Not one, not two but THREE! Why? Because they do not want to do the mundane job that the admin does. Well DUH!! THAT IS WHAT AN ADMIN PERSON DOES! ADMINISTRATION! To do the shitty work that those guys in the office pay you to do.

Now the current job that I am at, our Admin Junior, I think is the Champion of them all. She started with us in late February of this year, and to date, she has not a full week straight. Now if you calculate it, that would be more than 20 days of "sick" leave. Funny how her "sick" leave seems to be either on a Friday or a Monday. Hmmm....  she sometimes take a couple of days off and one time nearly a whole week. WTF dude!

It's not that we do not believe that she is sick, but COME ON! SUCK IT UP HUN! I am sick too. I have had the worst bout of cold and flu, an ear infection and a sinus infection THIS WINTER alone and I still manage to rock up to work. Not counting when the Lil' Tiger is sick. She claims that her chest hurts from breathing... gee mine would hurt too from all that cigarettes that she has been smoking.

She complained to me the other day that she is so "tired" from not having enough sleep! For fuck sake! I would be lucky if I get ANY sleep at all from having a child who sometimes still gets up at night asking for milk or if God forbids, TEETHING!

This Junior also is always late to work. She claims that by living about 30kms away from Perth, that warrants her to be late because she has to take the public transport! ERMMMM..... I TAKE the public transport too LOVEY! I have to drop my kid off at daycare,  take 2 trains and a bus in to work and I still manage to get to work 30 minutes before I start! If you are always late to work try waking up early and take the earlier train you lazy bum! Funny how she always leaves early  to catch that early train back home. *rolls eyes*

Why? Why do they act this way? Can you enlighten me? Part 2, this time next week.
