Pretty in Pink: Makeup by Toni Abigail Series Makeup Brush Set

Posted on the 02 November 2014 by Genzelkisses

I should be sleeping right now but I just can’t wait to share with you guys my current favorite brushes. I’ve been eyeing on this brush set for so long and finally, I got this for free from Joyce Sola of Candy Love Art when I took her personal makeup session which encouraged me to pursue makeup artistry professionally because she’s very inspiring.

This set is sold for P1,500.00 if you’ll buy it separately. It’s free from the session which cost me P3,000.00 home service. I’m not sure if this set is still available but you can contact Makeup By Toni on Facebook.

The set comes in a super pretty pouch (of course it’s in pink! haha), but seriously, the pouch is made of super soft synthetic leather in pink with zipper closure. It’s a perfect travel size brush set that you can bring with you for everyday use.

Abigail series brushes are in light pink handles and heron blue ferule. There are 7 brushes in this set, 4 face brushes and 4 eye brushes. They fit perfectly in the pockets and the two brushes (powder and blush) comes with a protective plastic cover. I’m honestly not sure if it’s really the only two of them or I might have thrown away the other covers haha. I do that when I’m so excited to try products!

Let’s go first on the Face Brushes in this set.

A01 Powder – it’s very soft and dense. I haven’t experienced any fall out or shedding so far. The size is just right for my face. It’s not too fluffy unlike my Marionnaud powder brush. I don’t like super fluffy powder brushes unless it’s a kabuki face brush.

A04 Foundation – this brush is just the right size and made of pure synthetic hair perfect for liquid foundations. It’s soft and applies liquid makeup without fuss.

A02 Tapered Highlighter – This brush is like a bigger size dome blending brush. I use it as a contouring brush instead of a highlighting brush because it fits perfectly the hallows of my cheeks and temples of my forehead.

A03 Angled Contour – I believe this is made of goat hair. I love brushes in white hair / bristles especially when applying blusher. It packs the right amount of color and blends the powder blush really well. You can also use it for contouring if you prefer to use angled brushes for it.

Now here are the other brushes, for the eyes:

A06 Blending – It’s again in animal / goat’s hair to blend eyeshadows or powder makeup flawlessly. Aside from using it for blending my eyeshadows, I also use this brush in contouring my nose! My nose looks naturally defined whenever I use this brush. It also blends eyeshadows nicely.

A05 Eye Shader – this one I believe is also made of natural hair. It makes eye shading effortlessly as it can pack a lot of colors into the brushes, then you’ll just tap it a little bit before you apply to the color to the lids. It can also blend the eyeshadow using the proper technique.

A07 Pencil – another brush made of animal / goat’s hair that works perfectly as a defining brush or lining my lower lash line with the crease color to give a nice smokey effect around the eye area.

A08 Angled Eyeliner – I use this for shading my eyebrows instead but you can also use this for eyeliner but I don’t use it for that purpose because I prefer I thinner brush for eyeliners. This one is great if you want thick eyeliner.

Each brush is labeled “MAKEUPBYTONI” with metallic effect like that of my Sigma Make Me Classy Brush set.

On the other side of each handle, there’s a label for each brush with its code and purpose, also in metallic effect. Sorry guys I forgot the right term for this metallic labels in brushes haha.

It’s a personal makeup brush set so expect that the handles are shorter but they still fit my tiny hands.

Here are some close up photos of the brushes that I labeled with their uses (my own preference of use for each brush).

I use the powder brush also for highlighting my face and the tapered brush for contouring. I remember my Real Techniques contour brush in this A02 brush (on the right).

The pencil brush is what I use to define my crease and for lining my lower lash line with a dark eyeshadow, the next one is perfect for blending and contouring the noseline, then the angled brush is for blusher which you can also use to highlight your cheekbone.

Of course, this one is for applying my liquid foundations. I can also use this for mixing different colors of foundation to achieve the color that will match my skin tone. The length of this brush is just right for me, I find some foundation brushes too long.

This is for applying eyeshadows. It can also blend the colors of your eye makeup.

The brush that I use for my eyebrows. Of course, I can’t bring a brush set without an eyebrow brush! It’s one of my brush essentials when it comes to makeup. I can honestly go with bare face as long as my brows are on point. Relate? haha.

Makeup by Toni Abigail Series brush set is so pretty and a nice set for traveling. Since I use liquid eyeliner for regular look / everyday use (it comes with its own brush), I don’t mind if this doesn’t include a thin eyeliner brush but it’ll be more awesome if they have included one. You can also reuse the pouch for other travel-size brushes that you have. Sometimes, I use the pouch when going to the grocery. I put my bills, phone, and car keys. As for the price, since it’s from Singapore, it’s okay but still a little pricey for P1,500.00 (8 travel-size brushes with pouch) compared to local brushes here like Beauty Cosmetics and Charm Brushes.

It’s in travel size but I prefer to use it at home because I currently bring with me a different travel brush set which I’ll talk about here as well after I review my Zoeva Rose Gold brushes. Now, who’s excited? :D

Let me know your thoughts about this brush set! Do you have something similar or would recommend any brand?
