Review : E.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation

Ever looked at pictures of models and celebrities with flawless skin, and decided with a note of finality that the picture must have been through photo processing as it was impossible for anyone’s face to be that smooth?

well, i had always thought the same myself, especially when flipping through fashion magazines at the “make up tutorial” section, i never fail to be mesmerized at the texture of the models faces.

i spent a lot of money trying out different foundation products, and until recently i’ve been using Etude House’s BB Cream. However that doesnt last through the day, even though it does cover up blemishes well.

and then, i stumbled across this brand, e.l.f. (Eyes Lips Face).

After reading reviews and comparing the prices, i finally decided to buy, e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain, the lightest tone in the series.

As they don’t ship out to Asia, i had to specially use another courier service to get it to me. and when i finally, did get my hands on it… i must say, i have no regrets.

the tone matches my skin perfectly, also, it has good coverage, which means blemishes on my skin will be hidden, and it lasts at least 8 hours (tested and proven in the humidity of Singapore weather).

for its price of USD6.00 i must say it’s a good bargain. the packaging is also reasonably chic with a matte black cap and matte glass-like bottle.

here is how it looks like:

to see the extent of its coverage, i’ve placed some of the product on my hand, with a very distinct black mole there, as you can see. (and no i am not proud of having a mole that huge on my hand).

after i blend it over my hand using my fingers, this is the result.

look at how much of the mole is now covered.

also, i noticed something interesting, if you let the foundation set, it will turn slightly pinkish. this means that the foundation has a pink hue in it, which makes your face brighter and less flat as though devoid of blood.

to summarise -

PROS

- good coverage
- has a little sunblock protection of SPF 15
- oil free
- colour blends in well with skin tone
- affordable
- has a pink hue to make face brighter without a need for another base (unlike the previous Etude House BB Cream which needed a pink base)
- doesnt come off easily even when you wipe it off or blow your nose with a tissue
- convenient size to carry
- doesn’t smell bad, gives off a slight sweet scent
- comes in many tones

CONS

- doesn’t ship out of USA & Canada
- hard to remove, proper make up remover or facial wash is needed

before i end off i would like to add that i do not use foundation base daily, so i would not know it is bad for acne skin, or would it cause break outs, because so far that has not happened to me yet, even though i have pores on my face that clogs up easily, this product has been good and does not clog my skin nor does it wear off fast. to prevent any shine on your face, i would suggest using compact/lose powder to top off the foundation and seal the make up in.
