Review: Natvia Waffles.

Posted on the 29 January 2013 by Felicakes @felicakes

I usually make "special Sunday breakfast" on Sundays. Usually it's pancakes or egg soldiers but last Sunday, I made Waffles. I finally found a waffle iron that was reasonably priced ($8). SCORE! They went down a treat. Even the Dog got some (unintentionally).

I have been trying to cut down on sugar lately. I try not to have sugary drinks, sugar in my tea or other drinks, Sugary food and snacks and etc. So when the guys at Natvia sent me a pack of their Natvia Made for Baking Sweetener, I was curious. I have heard a lot about artificial sweeteners and how bad they are for you, because it's artificially made and etc BUT Natvia is different. It is a natural occuring sweetener from the Stevia plant. I was intrigued and decided to give it a go. I am using it in small doses first so, I used it to make my Sunday Waffles. I will post more recipes of using Natvia soon.

So here is what you need to make the waffles.

Making Waffles with Natvia

Ingredients:

2 eggs

2 cups plain flour

1/2 veggie oil

2 teaspoon Natvia

4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 salt

1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract.

How to:

Preheat your waffle iron

Beat eggs in a large bowl until fluffy.

Add in flour, Natvia, baking powder, veggie oil and vanilla extract until smooth.

Once your waffle iron is hot, spray it with a little cooking oil or smear it with butter and add your Waffle batter.

Serve hot. You can serve this with Ice cream or M likes it with a little maple syrup. YUM.

The waffle was not as sweet or bitter (like some sweetener) as I thought it would be. Will definitely try baking more with it again soon. Maybe this weekend with Tiff. She and I may or maynot have a bake off. :)

You can get Natvia at your local supermarket. I saw the range at my local Coles and Woolworths supermarket. So they are not hard to find.
