Ironing.
A chore some of us hate and some obsessed with it, but regardless of what we think about it, we all agree that we need a relatively good iron to make it work.
This is where the Philips PerfectCare Aqua comes in. The Philips PerfectCare Aqua is the latest toy range of revolutionary steam generators, also known as one of the best iron and steamer I have ever come across! This is the sort of iron that would my father dream of having in his arsenal of irons (my dad loves ironing so much that he irons his clothes TWICE! Once before putting it away in his closet and once more before he puts them on). Yep, it’s the Holy Grail of steam irons.
What?
The Philips PerfectCare Aqua is the latest in a range of revolutionary steam generators. It is makes garment care a simple and speedy experience. What the iron does best is it’s ability to maintain the perfect combination of temperature and steam thanks to it’s OptimalTemp technology. It allows it’s user, i.e. you and me to iron anything without having to adjust to any settings and zero risk of burning garments.
The other revolutionary thing about this Philips PerfectCare Aqua is the SteamGlide soleplate which helps the iron glide across fabrics. The steam pressure and continuous steam ensures fast and consistent ironing. It is so brilliant that it is even approved by independent textile experts including Woolmark!
The fun bit.
Enough about the product, now lets get on to the fun bit. When I first saw the whole Philips PerfectCare Aqua iron/steamer, I was a little bit daunted by the size. It is big I must say and for a family that doesn’t have a designated ironing space, I was a little worried, but I must say even though it is larger than the average size iron, it was easy to store it in our linen closet. I just have to remember to empty the water chamber before storing it.
The unit comes with it’s own steam station (pictured),
because we do not have a designated ironing area, the cord from the base to the
iron was long enough to me to place it on the floor. They thought of everything when designing
this iron. If you look on the bottom
side of the base of the iron, there is a groove where you can feed the cord
that goes from the base to the iron and you do not have to worry about loose
cords running amok in your linen closet.
I also tested the iron with different types of fabrics from cotton blend tops to polyester skirts to silk dresses. The iron just adjusted its settings itself and I didn’t even have to waste time and wait for the iron to heat up or cool down before going on to the next top/skirt/dress, definitely a huge plus in time saving. So a big tick for being an amazing clothes iron.
Next, I tried “vertical ironing” (yes a term I coined
myself, thank you very much). This is
when you hold the iron vertically and let the steam from the iron do it’s
job. I have never used a steam iron this
way before (well one because you can’t iron that way and two, a normal steam
iron is super heavy!) and I have only ever seen it used in a shop or on one of
those infomercials, so now I can say I have.
This is because the steam station is not connected to the iron itself,
if you know what I mean. M was a little
sceptical that it would do the job right BUT boy did this Philips PerfectCare
Aqua prove him wrong. We were steaming
his work shirts and tshirts for a good while because we were having so much fun
and was amazed by how good this little steam station iron is!
Like I mentioned above, this Philips PerfectCare Aqua Steam Iron is the Holy Grail of irons. Would you even believe that now, I look forward to ironing every weekend just so I can pull it out, set it up in front of my TV and iron away.
