I haven't also been crafty. I come from a crafty family, but it is something I haven't embraced until recently. Growing up my mom and aunts would sew and make tons of things. Everyone would always ask if I helped. I would say "NO WAY!! I play sports. I'm musical." (I would run from it. That is not me at all.)
It wasn't until a family situation that brought us all together. I would be sick of reading, and saw my aunts just crocheting away. That's when I caved. They told me to watch YouTube videos and learn that. Each of my aunts crochet a different way.
In Arizona, I met (and frequently hung out) with a shop owner. She became one of my role models in business, and how I want to run my shop. She was really encouraging in me opening a shop of my own. I talked with Gary about the idea of opening my shop and what I would sell. He was all supportive, like he always is, and encouraged me.
At first my shop was called Pearls N Stitches. It was kinda connected with my original blog, Life of A Sports Wife. I loved the named to be honest, and sometimes I wish I didn't change, but I know that I am doing the right thing.
Then I moved to West Virginia and everything went off the rails. (Literally my life went completely crazy. It is slowly coming back to normal.) I hated my blog and the shop. I redesigned and wanted to make everything more streamline. So The Jessa Olson blog and Shop Jessa Olson was born.
