Nothing can covey more than Silence. In fact, sometimes, it conveys in a better way than any set of words. Rather, it can convey all forms of human emotions. Why humans? It applies to all living beings. And what about plants. Even the plants express themselves silently. And when it comes to expressing something through an image, it asks for a good amount of creativity in the person capturing that image. Because a picture can’t talk doesn’t mean it doesn’t convey anything. Scientifically, an image conveys its message much faster than words. That is why the first learning of a child begins with pictures or images. Similarly, most of the business presentations carry lot of images to support bullet points rather than long text. Do you think there is any image that is not able to convey anything. Interpretation might vary from person to person though.
So, this week’s challenge is to post an image that conveys silence. But as they say, behind silence there is a lot to understand. The only thing you need is a connection. This picture I took on a winter night outside a restaurant. The restaurant is in a posh colony in South Delhi. While a lot of people are entering and coming out of the restaurant, this beggar is sitting silently taking a support of the side pillar. But his silence says it all. It depicts his loneliness and emptiness despite most of the people around in exactly an opposite state than his. That is the beauty of a picture. And this person was not sleeping. But he was completely contained in himself as if belonging to another world. As if he has nothing to do with whatever is hapening around. As if in a state of discontent.
