This weekend I attempted a weekend without social media. My goal was to enjoy my surroundings and the people around me instead of being attached to twitter and instagram all weekend.
Ideally, I wanted to cut it off at 6:30pm on Friday because that's when I got off work and go until I got to work on Monday without getting on it AT ALL. I got on Friday night because I forgot to log off all my accounts that night. Also it was Iowa State vs Iowa in mens basketball. To be honest, I was really nervous for that game. It's an in-state rivalry and always a close game. It didn't help that our #2 scorer was suspended for that game. Anyway, IOWA STATE WON!!! So all is good in my world.
Saturday I got to work and remembered to actually log out of all the accounts. That really didn't do much good, because my willpower sucked at work. I checked it a few times. I wasn't on for long but still. At home I did good on not checking on my ipad because I didn't do anything there. But I still watched too much tv this weekend. I don't know why but I am really starting to become a basketball fan. I have watched more basketball this weekend than I have in a VERY VERY long time. (Minus March Madness because everyone goes crazy for that.)
Also another Saturday social media fail, we went to Applebees for dinner. Long story short kinda. Gary and I both got Hoiburgers. Basically it's a hamburger or chicken sandwich with ham on top served with fries. In iowa Applebees is a HUGE supporter of Iowa State and Iowa Athletics. During the each sport season (mostly basketball and football) the coaches have their signature sandwiches. When I was in Iowa a few weeks ago I had Coach Hoiberg's sandwich and it was delicious!! Everyone at Applebees loved the sandwich and said that they were going to order! Boo ya!! So of course I had to take pictures and post for the whole world to see.
Sunday was a pretty easy day because I was at my new part time job for 8 1/2 hours. So getting on my phone was kinda hard to do. After work the hubs and I had a great dinner and just hung out before bed since we haven't seen each other all weekend.
Overall I think it was a success because even though I did have a few mistakes I think they were for a great reason. Also I accomplished what I wanted out of it and it was to re-focus my life and be happy with the choices that I make.
Now on to the work week. Should be a great week. I'm actually going to do another social media free weekend with Annie next weekend. If you want to join us let me know by email.
