Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toys Review

Posted on the 30 May 2014 by Mummysspace @mmeeee
We were recently sent some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (TMNT) goodies including a Hard Turtle Shell which is perfect for dressing up/role play, a 16" Plush Michelangelo Turtle Practice Pal and a set of soft foam Nunchucks. To say they have been a hit would be a massive understatement, Ben has pretty much worn the Shell since he got it, even insisting on wearing it to preschool where there were a lot of impressed kids all wanting a go.

Putting the Toys to the Test

Ben has definitely been putting these TMNT products to the test. The first night he got them he begged me to let him sleep in the Turtle Shell but thankfully I managed to persuade him it wasn't such a good idea especially as he likes to sleep on his back and he snuggled up to Mike, his Practice Pal instead. It did make me laugh when I went to check on him later that night and was greeted by "This is epic!" as he had accidentally hit Michelangelo in his sleep.
The Nunchucks have also gone down a treat, they slot into hoops on the Turtle Shell which Ben thought was very cool and in his own words, make him "just like a Ninja Turtle". The fact the weapons are made of foam is a definite win as he swings them around quite a lot and has managed to bonk himself a few times but has thankfully avoiding doing any damage. I have a feeling he would really like the swords so may have to get hold of a set for him at some stage too.
The Practice Pal is a great idea as it allows children to use the weapons and be in "ninja training" mode, acting out the scenes on the show, hitting the plush toy just as you would focus pads or a punch bag in martial arts. Like all the TMNT toys, the Pal is robust, well made and up to the rough and tumble play you would expect from boys and girls aged 4+ so prefect for role play which they love so much at that age.

Conclusion

We definitely give these TMNT toys a massive thumbs up. Ben loves them and has played with them so much since they arrived I would definitely recommend them if you have a Turtles fan. When asked what he thinks of them Ben said, "they are perfect because they make me just like a superhero when I wear the shell and I can also use it as a shield against the baddies (it has a handle type loop inside which you can hold) and it's fun swinging the nunchucks about". He said his favorite phrases Michelangelo says are "This is epic"and "someone is in trouble". Zoey likes Michelangelo too as you can see so it's definitely snuggles all round with our new favorite TMNT friend.
