For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:10
I journey back in time… A decade ago– Where I recall being a certain type of person…
A girl always with a fresh vision of tomorrow… Thinking ahead, forgetting today, neglecting the time she had in her hands. That young mind eagerly chasing the desires of her youth… As she carried along her imagined version of idealism. That naivete which knew no struggle and fantasized life as smooth-sailing… Eventually yielding to heart break as bitter reality shot her by the head.
It then beckons her to face it head on… And with no other companion but her frightened, estranged self.
She learned that reality was harsh… Her lack of wisdom made her susceptible to mistakes…
But somehow she managed to make it through… At times tasting triumph… At times battered by failure… Slapping her by the face… Kicking and leaving her bruised… Until she learned that failure was not at all a villain… But a mentor; One that will teach you a valuable life lesson— That lesson you will never learn if your life is eternally quenched by success:
The sweetest victory can only be achieved If despite several times of losing to failure… You choose to be persistent… You choose to persevere… And you choose to still succeed.
That girl. She seems too familiar.
But I look at her today… And I see a different person. Someone molded and twisted by trials… Changed and shaped by experiences, both good and bad.
Well, she is still, and will remain to be, imperfect.
But she continues be a work in progress… Don’t we all? :-)
How have experiences / trials / mistakes shaped you?
