Daddy and Ben having a go on the Team GB Scalextric
Hornby, the well known British toy brand are the official Olympic London 2012 product supplier and have launched an extensive range of London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic souvenir products. The collection includes a very cool Team GB Scalextric Velodrome which we had lots of fun playing with; an Olympic Train Set which looks absolutely amazing and is suitable for kids aged 8+, but Ben managed to operate it, under supervision and was very impressed at how fast it zoomed around the track; a range of Corgi die-cast toys which includes a Routemaster bus, Black Cab, Classic Mini, London Tube and the Destination London Taxi Collection; figurines and keyrings, Airfix Cadbury's Chocolate Machines and Replica Olympic Torch Models.Ben loved the Olympic Train Set
Not only did we get a VIP tour of Hamleys, which felt a bit "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-esque" but we also met Wenlock, the Olympic Mascot, who was dressed up as a Queen's Guard to mark the Trooping the Colour ceremony which was being held later that day in London. Ben also managed to win a Destination London 2012 cab signed by British cyclist and Olympic hopeful Lizzie Armitstead in a prize draw which is definitely a souvenir to treasure and has been placed well out of his reach.Ben and I met Wenlock
Ben wanted to see if Wenlock's tail squeaked while we were on the tour of the store
A fantastic time was had by us all and it has definitely sparked some Olympic excitement in all of us. I am really looking forward to the buzz around London while it is on and will be getting some more of these great London 2012 Olympic souvenirs to mark the occasion.A Souvenir to treasure!
* Disclaimer: We were invited to attend the Hornby Olympic Party in Hamleys where we all received some great goody bags and had lots of fun thanks to the great entertainment and hosting from the team involved.
